    Hey there,

Looking to place an order with Etre Gourmet for some Cantillon offerings. Since shipping is so expensive, I think it would make more sense to "pair up" with someone(s) to place an order together and spread out the shipping cost. I am probably looking to order 4 bottles, so most likely have room for 4 other bottles or so. BM me if this is something that interests you. Would be looking to order by mid April.

    Cheers,
    Tom

if you order enough 375's, its only 1$ or so more then you'd pay stateside.the trick is to play with bottle amounts and keep an eye on the shipping calculator.

We have a weekly tasting group that would probably be interested in throwing down with you.

    It's not risk-less, but it's low risk.

    Huh.

I figured mail-order outfits just wouldn't ship to MA. My sweetheart had to buy a particular bottle of vodka online some years back and had to have it delivered to a friend's relative's house in New Hampshire.

Most US-based places won't. Most foreign places don't care.

Mind telling those of us who are curious about placing an order now how it went? How many bottles, how much was shipping, any issues, etc...

ended up with I think a total of 16 bottles....would I do it again? No.

Much rather spend the money from the shipping on beer here. (I've also decided...gasp...that I am not a big fan of Cantillon...) so that might be a bit biased.

But it was fun ordering from abroad. Just too pricey. Shipping was over 100usd

I've been periodically ordering overseas for years. The only real reason to do is that you really like Cantillon, Struise, or expensive one-off rarities from 3F and others. Even Struise is starting to get pretty good at sending a lot to standard US distro though, particularly Pannepot, which is the big thing I like to order from Belgium other than Cantillon.

Real simple - you're going to spend about $300 for a pretty standard box of 10-20 beers, depending on what you order. (Say 10 750ml loons, or about 20-25 Struise bottles, or some combo in between...) The rarities, like the 3F Armand series or a Struise 750, can easily double that price. If you order smaller quantities, you're just going to get hosed on per bottle shipping costs.

I've never had a huge shipping problem, knock on wood. Just a couple of less than ideally packed boxes, but they survived. Most of them are transferred in via USPS, so plan on a trip to the Post Office to pickup a giant heavy box if you aren't home when they deliver during the day. Some sites offer Fedex/UPS, which is usually a bit more.

I've seen anywhere from 1 week to 1 month arrival after ordering, but I've also heard about worse than that. You're just at the mercy of customs, and it depends on how busy they are. Your box technically could get rejected and returned, or confiscated/destroyed, and it does happen, but it seems to be rather rare.
