I tend to agree, but that's a very short pickup window. Wish it were 2 weekends at least.

To be clear, its not like you could load up the site any time in those 5 hours and immediately add tickets to your cart and checkout. Often all tickets would show "not available" after the first 5-10 minutes or so, however this just means they are in carts waiting to be checked out. Then people leave them in there for 10 minutes while they text their buddies and ask "hey do you want tickets? I got some in the cart" and they allow them to expire, after those 10 minutes it will show up again if you refresh at the right time. Or perhaps someones payment is declined etc.. This seemingly goes on for hours.

So when I found tickets at 5pm it would usually involve loading the site, seeing: Not Available, but after 10 refreshes or so you would see Group D become available and if you click fast enough you can get them.

However it sounds like they won't be using eTix and instead just selling them on their webstore, this system doesn't have the 10 minute cart protection so you may be right. People won't be sitting on them in their cart like you can with eTix.

So this could be like the old days where the site crashes several times during ticket sales. Oh, what a great time to be alive!

They just released a 4pk 8% IPA for $20 and a 4pk 5.25% wacky beer for $20. Not my cup of tea but they must be doing something right..ie: marketing. Thank goodness for all the choices we have nowadays.

Wow, I did not know that. I thought the beer actually smelled really good, and it tasted OK.... at first. Then the super spicy peppers kicked in, followed by greasy burps, and that kind of ruined it.

But back on topic. Please tell me your thoughts on the below question.

Does 3F Release details of the Variants before the Pick-ups, or is it just a Blind Surprise?

They have to release details before the online sale. Asking people to fork up ~90 for tbd variants is not something FFF would do. It will likely be the day of/night prior to the sale.

Besides all the other years they sold tickets before variants were announced?

They will announce variant as normal which I believe is like the week before release.

Guess I had a brain cramp there. Didn't they announce the vintage variants prior to the sale earlier this year?

ETA: Vintage variants were announced the day of the sale. The variant clearly has more importance this year than in prior years because there is no fest. I think it will be done similar to the vintage sale so I'm sticking to my prediction

https://darklordday.info/index.php/Dark_Lord_Day_2020 says yes. But most previous years it was very shortly before the festival (or even day of, but I think that was before variants were included/guaranteed).

For the vintage variant sale they put a big list out before you needed to buy the package and they also added to that list the day of the sale. The list was largely know days before the sale took place.

Yeah they used to be a surprise until the morning of, I think 2016 was the first year they announced them ahead of time. Since then it has been roughly a week before the fest when they are announced.

I'm out. Think the price without the event is too rich for Dark Lord. Enjoy, boys!

Yea... I value Dark Lord at $15 a bottle so essentially paying $110 for a variant. Gonna take a pass.

My guess is that FFF is valuing regular DL at $25-30/bottle and the variants at $50-60/bottle. Probably a little high (especially for the regular DL). Maybe the price of coriander and verbena went up this year?

I value Regular DL at $20-$25 per bottle. Then the Variants are $50-$150 depending on what it is.

Speaking of Pricing. I spent $175 on a 2017 ChemTrailMix in Late June when I was feeling real down on all the stuff being cancelled. I keep seeing sale prices for CTM and Handjee at $350-$400. Does anyone actually pay these prices? But also, I can't seem to get anyone to actually part with these variants for under $150-$200.

I really wish this market was more standard, but it's not. That's why I think the risk is worth it. You will either easily cover your costs or you will be able to just about break even. Not much middle ground.
