Well, I finally found it. Thank you BB. So even though it is a school/work night I am cracking a couple open. Why? 1) Well it was canned 9/24 (would really like to experience the FH beer that is a day or two old) and it won’t be any better on Friday. And 2) found out via zoom today that my (Commander-in-tweet disciple who thinks COVID is fake news and doesn’t do a good job with masks; besides that terrible flaw is a lovely person/co-worker) co-worker across the hall got a positive test today for COVID. So I gotta try it before my I lose my sense of taste.

[IMG] In regards to the beer, It doesn’t’t smack me in the face aroma wise like BB’s no 4, but it drinks quite well. Not disappointed I grabbed two 4-packs.

Just opened Sabro Fresh Hop from Crux, from @distantmantra's delivery yesterday. It's in the middle of the pack, better than some and not as good as others. Thanks bro!

All due respect to your coworker and I seriously hope (1) he/she is OK and (2) you didn’t breathe his/her COVID particulates ... but, can we start putting people in prison if they recklessly expose themselves to others while not taking this shit seriously, if for no other reason to protect the rest of us? Just saying. Drunk drivers who endanger others through careless behavior face consequences. And I think folks have had a chance to get up to speed on this by now. Cheers.

Well, to quote i believe @vurt, “it’s complicated.” It shouldn’t be a political issue, but for some reason it is.

PS.. loving the hoppy beer burps from Citra slicker. The FH gift that keeps giving. Don’t get them with a regular iPA

I think there's room for optimism, but my guess is that it's going to be a few more months before we see that kind seriousness. I'm thinking maybe this January...

On a positive and related note, it looks like the NFL has started to take mask wearing pretty seriously.

Sorry for venting guys, I’m just fed up. We’ve been facing this since January and it’s now October. Mostly I’m tired of hearing my daughter tell me she isn’t learning anything in remote school. Tired of people believing this is some kind of personal choice, that has no consequences beyond themselves. Tired of a lot of stuff, as are we all. Carry on. Cheers.

After a nice walk with my boys and a bit of reflecting, I should apologize for some of this post. I was being a little flip with my comments on reason #2. You see I turn to humor (perhaps poor humor) as a coping mechanism for stressful situations. I have a couple of family members who are considered high risk and I worry about catching it everyday for their sake. I am sure many of you are in the same boat. I haven’t lost a family member or friend to this, but some of you perhaps this is true? So, I apologize. Covid is not a joking matter. I wish our leadership at the national level would treat it as such. As I said before, it shouldn’t be a political matter, but like anything these days it has become one. Please wear mask. Not for you, but for others.

PS...walking with the boys is a much better coping mechanism.

And I want to get those kids back in school. I just worry if adults can’t take it seriously, then how are we going to expect kids to?

PSS...to keep it beer related. I am enjoying a second Citra Slicker. I have detected no drop off in the FH goodness so far.

You know, John, I'm about as wishful as you, but I think this dysfunction is going to need a generation to work itself out of the system if we (the collective) are willing to. As an immigrant, the one thing that blows my mind is how we don't appreciate how fragile a functioning democracy is. I'll stop now, and we can pick up this thread in person.

On a more on topic note, I got a serious inquiry from friends on the east coast who were wondering if fresh hopped beers were still a thing as they eagerly awaited Surly's Wet and Harvest Ale from Founders. I tried to explain the cornucopia that's the PNW, and try as I might, I don't think it's something that's easily explained. You just have to live it to understand that there's a difference between a 2 day old IPA and a 5 day old one.

Agreed! I've been trying to have that convo with family, and also how detrimental the undermining of science could be to the long-term wellbeing of the US.

Tasty fresh hop beers from PacNW would help make those discussions less painful. Seeing a few more CA-brewed ones percolating up, sadly though few on par with the goodness up there.

No apology needed as far as I’m concerned man. What is the saying, if I couldn’t laugh I would have to cry? Something like that. There’s nothing funny about COVID but we all have to do what we have to stay sane. Cheers.

Oh and no more fresh hops for me tonight. I watched the debate with my wife and had a bacon cheeseburger, onion rings, and chocolate shake. I feel kind of sick now and it’s only partly because of the debate.

Definitely a topic to discuss over a beer or three. As someone who was born and raised here, my historical perspective is a bit different. I don't want to turn this into a political discussion, so I'll stop now with a final observation.

I've disagreed with a variety of different political figures in our country over the years, from both parties, but I've never seen anything like the current climate. Given the history, I'm hopeful the current situation is an aberration, one that can hopefully be cured with a different resident in the white house. I agree the cure won't happen over night, and will likely require several different presidencies (from both parties), but I remain optimistic that it can and will happen. A lot of healing will be needed, but that healing can only start when the current wh resident is sent packing. IMHO.

I thought the saying was “it takes a lot to laugh, it takes a train to cry.” ? Wait that is Robert Zimmerman. My bad.

Hmmm. There's a Yokes near my work. But it's in Airway Heights, a good beer desert, and the Yokes there definitely plays down to the level of local competition.

I'm at high risk after my heart surgery this past March. I now have a mechanical mitral valve and have to take Warfarin daily. Due to the crazy nature of Covid and blood clots, my cardiologist and GP have said to avoid public crowds. I'm also high on the list of people to get a potential vaccine first, so that's fun. Sure I'm healthy and can run like a madman again, but f I ever come off touchy about restaurants and bars being irresponsible right now, there's my reason why.

Speaking of FRESH HOPS... Wetwired, where are you?
