What beer are you drinking now? #2911

Eating wings at the bar and a bottle share broke out - “West Coast Connect” by 3 Sons/Resident Culture:



Allegedly a PtY clone by a former RR brewer - delicious!

 

Poured into a 16 oz can shaped pint glass, canned on 10/5/20. Pours a hazy orange with a finger sticky white head that leaves thick streaks of lace with excellent retention. 4.5

Smell is blueberry, mandarin, pineapple, ripe melon, and apricot. 4.5

Taste follows mandarin, pineapple, cantaloupe, blueberry, and apricot low bitterness but big flavor. 4.5

Mouthfeel is bigger than average, a little sticky not dry, soft gentle carbonation, and at 7% ABV it drinks a bit bigger in flavor, but very easy going down. 4.5

Overall this is a very juicy and rather complex NEIPA that I surely will remember. They used Comet hops in this batch. Cheers all. 4.5

Hopefully they do the DDH version again next year. This one is so good already it would be fun to see if you can me it even better.

I am drinking Billy Bishop DIPA, by Microbrasserie Le Bilboquet in Saint-Hyacinthe Québec, which is about 60 kilometres from Montreal. 8% ABV and 100 IBU, although you don’t get that hop bomb feeling due to the strong malt balance. An excellent beer. While the Ontario market has improved tremendously over the last decade or so, Quebec has been and continues to be that one step ahead in terms of overall quality. The Quebecois are justifiably proud of their beer and if you visit it’s not that easy to find quality beer from elsewhere, which isn’t a problem given the overall high standards of the provincial product. Four of my favorite breweries make this province their home. It’s Thanksgiving weekend here in the Canuck lands, so my wife and I will be doubling down, which means good red wine in addition to beer. Cheers.
