Drinking my first can of Mo+Mo tonight, very tasty, great Mosaic dankness throughout. Saw some Heaven Hill barrels on the sidewalk yesterday with "coco" scrawled on 'em. Pretty sick of coconut in stouts, but I also remember the excitement and joy when I got my hands on a draft pour of Alesmith's Hawaiian Speedway stout. Jesus this whipsaw of emotions makes me feel old, and I suppose in craft beer drinking years I am? Fuck it.

Someone tell me where to make the DC thread:

It's finally happening, folks! Other Half DC is set to open THIS Saturday. We have been working towards this day from the first time we visited DC, and we are beyond thrilled that it's finally here. We're coming in hot with some of our old favorites and new DC renditions of collabs, along with a few brand new beers. ⠀
    ⠀
Order tomorrow, 10/16, starting at noon, for PICKUP on Saturday, 10/17. All sales via Curbside Pickup ONLY (link in bio). Sorry! We aren’t open for onsite consumption yet!⠀
    ⠀
Orders can be picked up on Saturday between 10am-8pm and Sunday between 11am-6pm. We WILL NOT be allowing sales for walk-ups or allowing lines to form. Please DO NOT come to the brewery before you receive an email saying your order is ready for pickup. You do not need a car to place an order for Curbside Pickup, but you must wear a mask at all times. Instructions on how to collect your order will be in your order confirmation. ⠀
    ⠀
Now, on to the fun stuff... We plan to have 5 brand new beers to share with you! 3 new DC exclusives and 2 collabs with our friends @monkishbrewing and @trilliumbrewing. #staytuned for more details on the collabs. ⠀
    ⠀
Zero Anniversary Imperial IPA (10.0%) You're only born once so why not celebrate it! We worked with local DC artist @trapbob to come up with this spaced out version of our DC brewhouse. This one is blasted with Citra, Galaxy, Enigma, El Dorado, Mosaic and Mosaic Cryo. $22 per 4 pack.⠀
    ⠀
2 Years 2 Months Later IPA (7.2%) It took long enough, 2 years and 2 months to be exact, but we are finally here and ready to brew some fresh beer in DC. Opening a brewery is a long and arduous process, but when those first beers finally come out, it makes it all worth it. Citra, Galaxy, Mosaic and Sabro. $16 per 4 pack.⠀
    ⠀
Tomato Factory Imperial IPA (8.0%) This one will hit you hard. In the best way, of course. Packed with Citra, Vic Secret, Riwaka and Sabro, so many great tastes together. Feeling lucky for the opportunity to convert this old tomato canning factory into a juice canning factory. $18 per 4 pack.⠀
    ⠀
DC—it's been a long journey, but we're finally here! We look forward to opening the taproom and brewery doors soon!

I mean, it's been semi-amazing in NYC. It's great if you can get there. Order ahead and they'll load it into your car when you arrive.... buckets. As per delivery, sometimes it's great, sometimes it's dumb.

always so tempted, always disappointed. The low abv makes it sound promising. Might just go with a bottle of the hazelnut. Wish they’d leave the milk sugar out.....

agreed! these sound promising without a bunch of other off the wall things added. But I am always skeptical as I feel most of the BA OH stouts I have tried/had weren't up to par with competition, especially at the price they charge.

Also one of these stouts won’t give @BoardwalkBock anaphylactic shock so that’s another positive aspect.

the green city BA stouts were horrendous for $30. 7 deadly layers was mediocre at best too. Their barrel program has not been great this year with the exception of snowbirds 3 in four roses barrels, that was incredible.

I like how you've been on these forums for 2 months and cracked the secret sauce of shit on lactose = likes. (Lactose in stouts sucks).

Some of the Short/Darks have had lactose in them right? I've generally enjoyed those. Out of pureboi principle I'm happy to blanket-denounce 'tose in stouts (and in any style, with the obvious exception of the very traditional usage in dark milds), but in all honesty (like @frozyn) I'd be lying if I said I could explain how/why 'tose in those big OH stouts makes them noticeably worse. Frankly a lot of the 10%+ OH stouts are not good just because there's too much shit in them & they're too sweet/cloying in general, tosed or not.

Hate to sound like @jrnyc but I got both of the Finback Absorb variants and those are how a pastry stout should be. Peanut butter, marshmallow, banana, coffee, graham cracker? Check, check, check, check and check. But delicious, well-integrated, and (for me) still stayed on the right side of beer vs not beer, and tasted like a stout.

Now that I'm #burblyfe and a lot more store-reliant, I have access to a lot of the Grimm pastry stouts via DeCiccios - hate to say this but their pastry game is weak too. Much more of an artificial, non-integrated vibe that I would expect from them - at least out of the ones I've tried.
