Von Trapp was like that and wasn't one of my faves. I prefer a more rounded character.

H-P managed to push the toasty character as far as it could go and still have that rounded rich Munich quality.

FWIW that beer was my favorite of the German Amber Oktoberfest beers this year. I discussed this beer in your online Oktoberfest tasting thread.

    Cheers!

what would an Oktoberfest seltzer even look like?

    Now a pumpkin spice seltzer ... :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

You got me and in all sincerity I truly hope we will never find out (but I will not be holding my breath here).

    Cheers!

My Bitburger doesn’t seem to be cloudy. Tried to take a pic that shows the color and clarity.

    Not cloudy, but maybe hazy?

Looks like a bit of a chill haze, if anything.

Not clear, but not really cloudy, it was more a solid opaque

Yea that’s about what mine looked liked to @officerbill opaque is a better word for it.

It definitely was partly chill haze cause I did remember it clearing up but not anything I’d called crystal clear still. Either it was a great Oktoberfest (marzen )

Tell us that story. My first encounter with stein brau was a visit from a suppliers supplier. This guy was a wealthy young fellow importing esoteric German beers. The early 90s, and this guy sold to our supplier in Houston. He drove around with his friend, flaming drunk and convinced he held The Holy Grail. The beer was fantastic but the presentation required an early nap for the presenter. It all seemed downright Neolithic.

Should a professionally brewed beer have chill haze?

You don't remember Greg Koch's announcement of Stone Berlin?

I'm sure it's out there on the internets.

The size of Bitburger? Probably not. It's not something that a little decoction mashing couldn't fix, though.

You do tend to see it more with the smaller ones.

    Interesting!

Almost makes me want to bust out a home brew kit and try it out. Of course I’d HAVE to decoction mash (which I’m not set up to do) and well, lager, which I’m also not set up to do...

Maybe an Italian Oktoberfest (dry hopped)?

Looking at the pic close-up, I think I'm just seeing reflection -- the fingers thru the beer are pretty clear.

    So what?

I’m Italian, and I like Oktoberfests. I don’t see the issue.
