Just to play devil's advocate, why would they suddenly name BBA DL after 10 years? I'd like to think Hellaboozie is something other than Bourbon.

 

They "named" rye and then unnamed it the next year so anything is possible with FFF.

Also, would they really not make BBDL? I certainly hope not, it's probably my favorite variant. Although now that I think about it, given that 2020 sucks beyond compare they're definitely not making BBDL just to stay on theme.

 

Maybe they thought they would have enough BA DR barrels and didn't source enough bourbon barrels this year? As you allude to, we won't know until we know.

 

Also Handjee used to just be Vanilla Bean Dark Lord before it was named.

They did skip BBDL in 2013, 2014 and 2018

Just posted this in the BCBS thread so sue me but...

Not even one full week of a pickup window from a Thursday to a Tuesday is weird af. They're essentially leaving one single weekend in the middle of a pandemic to come to Munster for to-go beer.

Do they know wtf they're signing up for? People don't line up in cars for DL on DLD like they may for this. Plus, with the last minute announcement, and this tight window, I see DL variants either being readily available from traders who got way too many, or FFF hanging on to WAY more bottles than they'd hoped for.

 

I’ve been thinking about this. I was gung-ho to do this, but as we get closer I’m leaning towards not. The drive doesn’t bother me as much as having 8-16 DL (if my wife were to sign up too) The variants are obviously the main reason to grab this, for me not to trade but to drink and try, but is it worth 340/680 and a shit ton of DL. If it was even 3DL and 2 variants for 200 I wouldn’t hesitate, but 4 DL and 1 variant for 170 just seems too steep.

 

Yea, I'm least excited about this DLD release with all the other stuff going on stout-wise this time of year. My criteria is "will the pandemic be over by the next DLD?" I doubt there will be a DLD 2021 at this rate so I think I'll cave just to have some stouts on hand for summer of 2021.

 

Not gonna lie the bottles look sick as hell*.
