It's certainly one way to go with the business model. More vintage bottles on site for those visiting from out of town for a price that is under secondary market pricing, but above what locals will pay on a random weekend. People take pictures of the 'awesome' stuff they are opening at the Cellar, post on social media, people (beer geeks) comment about how 'lucky' that person is to try the 'tick', more out of town business follows, rinse and repeat. Frankly, it works until it doesn't. Toppling Goliath is the first brewery that springs to mind who employs a similar business model for on-site consumption. They take heat for it but you have to respect the fact that they own it, especially on social media.

Westbrook did it also starting years ago. The bottles sat and they finally did a flash sale on most of it several months ago. I broke down and paid $150 for Mexican Cake Reserva last year on a Wednesday when the cellar bottles were 25% off. I’d personally pay up to $200 for a bottle I really wanted to tick, but never to drink it a second time.

The more I read/hear about people having no problem spending $200 on a bottle of beer, the more I realize how poor I am.

That kinda shit makes my head spin. (Proverbial) You are getting paid to do WHAT?! There has to be some sort of interest in boats on the ‘Gram or Snapchat or TicTac (purposeful) to make a little beer money.

If by poor you mean a better manager of your money, then yes.

Yeah, my efforts to find a sugar mama on Untappd have proved to be unsuccessful. Guess I'm just too old to be in this game anymore.

This is my takeaway from it too - it's the premium for to-go / cutting into the profit margin for flippers.

I could see a slight increase in cellared on-site bottles but would be surprised by it being as dramatic as $180-$200 vintage BBTs.

if not then wouldn’t 2017 (the oldest) be the most expensive?

The '18 is still the most money on secondary...

‘18 was also a smaller batch than ‘17, and probably much smaller than ‘19.

I’ve been following the BBT release discussion here, and I think I get most of the logistics: watch Instagram on Monday, click the link, multiple pick up windows, and proxies allowed. The one thing I’m curious about is the time frame we might expect the Instagram post. Is there a typical part of the day SP posts, or could the post occur at any point from the morning through evening?

I’m just making sure I cover all my bases, so when I fully miss on both KBBS and BBT on Monday, it stings a little extra. Nothing like a double whammy of disappointment to start the week!

The instagram post says it'll go live in the evening on Monday. Nobody really knows when that is, just keep your notifications on.
