I got on the list pretty late - sept or so - and I heard back last week that I’m in for 21. Paid my $200 pronto. Your friend should just email Chloë - she responds quickly. I’d be surprised if anybody got shut out but I suppose it’s possible - word definitely spreading.

God damn these guys just keep blowing me away. Spicy heat and barrel in perfect unison on 2019 Teotihauken.

Hoping for some help here. Im planning on going up for my 1st pickup around Nov 6th. Planning on staying overnite in a hotel near Barreled Souls. Wondering if anybody on this thread has done stayed in the area and has a good recommendation of a spot to stay nearby
Also stopping at Tributary Brewing for my Mott the Lesser bottles, so could stay in that area too.

Will be looking up any COVID ramifications, but I think CT is on the okay list still.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Just a heads up that the taproom is closed through 11/11. Not sure what that means for bottle pickup, but you may want to look into it before planning the trip up.

I had hoped to pick up last weekend and when I messaged they said that they would meet me at the taproom if I could provide a specific time I would arrive. Unfortunately I had a few other things to do and couldn't provide a time. Fortunately I have a reason to get back up to the Portland area sometime soon!

If you decide to stay in Portland you should check out Novare. They have had some really good BS stuff on tap on and off recently, including Wisdom and BA Stay Puft (twice).

Made the cut this year! Here’s to a plethora of barrel aged beers in 2021!

Tried my first bottle of 10 Cents gets you nut last weekend. Really well balanced beer. The aroma is freshly husked peanuts and very strong, like I thought I was at a baseball game with some fresh peanuts. The taste was much more balanced between peanuts and barrel. There was a nice sweetness, I assume from the banana that just blended everything together. Very well done, where you actually taste the nuances of the barrel without letting the adjuncts take over. I do love banana in beer so I personally could do a little more but the beer was great none the less. If you hate banana, I still think you'll enjoy this one. Really excited to keep digging into this years bottles!! Cheers.

Same here, my wife shakes her head every time I make a trip to pick up bottles because the number keeps increasing. I think I had 42 this last trip. Really loving the barleywines they are putting out too, big bang is a classic.

Picked up some stuff and drank it.

RBG was.....interesting. Cracked the can and it was nostrils full of booze.

Definitely got less intense as I drank it, but I think it needs a little time to settle down. Wasn’t as smooth as their usual barleywines.

Eat My Stout tasted exactly like you’d expect a candy bar stout to taste like. I’ll prolly share the next bottle. It’s a lot to take solo.

    Event Horizon rules.

    That is all.

If you've got the night you can solo after a good meal and staying hydrated. If not, def share. The group will enjoy it for sure.

Yes, I did pretty much what @zeile33 said. Last Friday after a good meal, had it as my first beer and took my time. It's exceptionally smooth.

Going to pick up 6 months worth of bottles from them this weekend. Anyone get/try the V for Vanilla? It's hard enough to get through one of their high abv bottles so i cant imagine having 2, but i would really like to try the different vanillas back to back. I wish i could do bottle shares again.
Glad to hear Event horizon is good, but again that's been something i've been holding off on until i can share it with friends.

I had about half the Indonesian Vanilla. I was sitting in my recliner witha freshly poured glass and my wife tossed me a couch pillow to put behind my back (#oldmanproblems) and it knocked the bottle and glass all over me and the recliner arm.

Anyway, the part I had was damn good. Smooth as always, and tasted like actual, real vanilla. I plan on drinking the other one in locked room by myself.

Has anyone heard back about 2021 barrel society info? The last I heard was my confirmation that I was in back in October with a note that I would get more info in the next few weeks.

I just have the confirmation. I think the messages start rolling just before the society year starts typically. If I remember correctly, the first bottle release for 2020 members was in mid-January.

As a side note, based on info on their instagram, Chloe (who manages the society for Barreled Souls) is pregnant currently and may have a lot going on!

I wouldn't worry about it, they have been doing this for a while and everything has gone very smoothly in my experience.

I forget if i got any email with more info when i first signed up. If you're curious how it works, starting in january they'll send out an email to bottle society members whenever they're going to release a new beer. It'll have the date of release, beer description, pre-discount price, if any are included with your membership, and limits on how many you can order. You just email them back how many you'd like to order and they'll send you a receipt in a day or so. You can then pick up those beers anytime before april of the next year, provided you give them 3 days notice of what day you'll be there to pick them up.
