I picked up my 4-pak of Dogfish 120 this morning. I put them right into my beer frdige, as that's the only place I can really store it in summer.
I checked the date: Bottled in June 2020. I probably won't drink one for a few weeks though. Trying to save them for 'special' occasions.

I was going to comment something along the same lines - normally I would not prefer the frosted glass but after a half/full/ultra it would be totally fine

I’d drink one and shove the rest in the back and forget about them. I have some old ones lying around that I need to revisit.

Cross posted to WBAYDN and Cellar reviews...

For International Beer Day I went deep into my cellar for a 2011 DFH 120 Minute.
This tends to be really hot fresh - but man, it ages beautifully. Super smooth, obviously not much hops left, but great malt flavor - it's more like a big barleywine at this point. I think I have a few more down there.
I don't have an online photo account to post pics. Just trust me, deep amber, no head to speak of (9 years old...)

At the late great Sunset Grill in Boston I got served a pint of World Wide Stout for the 4oz price of $6.00. Needless to say, I hung out at the bar for a few hours.

120 is one of the rare beers that while perfect for the cellar, I actually prefer fresh. Barleywines aren't normally my thing and that's basically what it becomes. I like it at a year old, not much more than that. I have one from '18 that I'm keeping for 5yrs just for kicks.

For some reason I enjoy the heat in a fresh 120, vs say World Wide which I definitely prefer after a year or two.

I found a 120 from 2016 in the basement box and, well, I really don’t want it

I have about 30 bottles of 120 going back to 2011(8of those) it really gets better with age, I've accumulated and tried at various stages and it's so harsh and boozy fresh but really smoothes out at about 2 years imo and gets better, I need to crack open one of the remaining 2011s but hate not sharing it with someone who appreciates it.

That's the way to do it. I can't stand it fresh (I bought another bottle yesterday:open_mouth:) but at that age, it can be wonderful.

Terrible for ageing. I aged one for 8 years and was a drain pour
