    A baking steel is key. For those who don’t own one - invest in one with a “meat moat” so you can use it to cook roasts and keep the grease on the steel. Also works as a meat/cheese tray for hosting - put in the fridge to chill before serving.

    yeah, listen, we need to talk. I don’t usually tell people this, but I’m from New Jersey, and the best pizza is from New Jersey. I am a de facto authority. But your beautiful pizza isn’t an east coast pizza. Unless you’re talking the east coast of italia, which is not my forte. Although I did once spend a month in Italy with a niche famous guy who strictly ate margherita pizza in every city and every town we traveled through, searching for a deeper truth.

    where were we? Oh yes, mushrooms at your house post-pandemic, bring yer own pallet of benthic, you’ll be slinging neopolitan styles and I’ll be the guy sipping Capri Sun unironically while this Maple Deth comes to room temperature.

    Where in NJ?? you are correct about NJ having the best pizza ... Trenton specifically. I grew up in Trenton so I know. :wink:

    @FBarber - that’s what I have and it’s great!

    @ktr5010 - that’s the moat!

    In any event, treat one like you would your cast iron skillet - seasoning! And for pizzas or bread get a solid peel. I used an inexpensive wooden peel for a long time then switched to metal - much better.

    Trenton, PA?

    [sorry, sorry, I can help myself]

    Let’s just say I was a northerner, and my two mall experiences were Livingston’s & Short Hills.

    While I’ve been to Trenton a couple times, I can’t think of any specifics. Like a good child of the 90s, I did see Train / Ben Folds in the Dillon Gymnasium at Princeton in 1999.

    Unrelated - I was not feeling this Maple Deth until it got fully up to room temperature. Once it arrived, it popped.

    Thundertaker is still glorious. I’m going to be very sad when my last 2 cans are gone. This one better come back.

    I'm from Doylestown, Pa but my wife mostly grew up in Short Hills and I lived in Jersey City so I'm familiar with both north and south jersey (there is no central). Yes this particular pizza isn't an east coast pizza. It was just the most recent one I had that was the prettiest. Usually the first one is a marg and I make it so the crust ratio is larger than a typical pizza plus the oven/baking steel is the hottest then which is better for a more neopolitan style. The rest are more representative of a typical new york style. [IMG]

    Damn, regular Deth’s Tar went down waaayyyy too easily. Finished the can quickly so I kinda want another beer, but the high ABV has me thinking that a Cafe Deth is a good idea. Spoiler alert, it’s definitely probably not, even on a Friday...maybe.

    I did half a Maple, then both Cafe + Deth in the same night for similar reasons. Not a smart choice, but a delicious one at least

    Damn. It’s a shame there aren’t any other barrels in North America.

    I'm a big fan of the West Coast Hero. Also it's really cool that Riot was canned; I hope it ends up seeing a fair amount of distro.

    Got to agree.

    Had my first can of regular last night and wow was it good. It's amazing what depth of flavor they can get without any adjuncts. The chocolate, marshmallow and bourbon flavors were absolutely shining.

    Delicious beer.

    As for having more than one, I'm lucky my missus likes these beers too as we split one and then split a maple deth.
