A friend of mine's friend works NYPD on the UWS and said that they've basically stopped giving tickets. Since quarantine started I've felt totally comfortable just walking around with a beer, though granted I don't expect the average officer to identify a 16oz sticker can as a beer as quickly as they'd notice a can of Bud or bottle of Corona.

Tried several cans that landed in Cali this monday: Small Citra Everything, True Green, Small IAECED in Space, Dream in Green, Ain't Nothing Nice, and 1000 Pounder...

They were all mediocre, and I was very let down overall. Not even close to the glorious memory I have of Hop Showers, and the cans I tried back when I first had them in NYC, years ago. I also tried four other beers on tap at HPB recently and was likewise let down. I used to find them to blow Monkish and others out of the water. We had some HPB and ASB that same night and they were considerably better to us.

Maybe these are just not the best they have to offer, but I don't know... these have seriously nothing going for them. They are either too sweet, or too oddly bitter. None of the intense, dank aromatics I recall. I get the occassional misfire, but 0/10 is not a good showing. These were canned mid October.

I don't mean to be a party pooper here, but I just wonder if something changed in recent times?

I'd say both your points have validity. Those aren't their "top" beers I would safely say, which is a factor. Also a factor, is at least a couple of those rely on Galaxy, and I have yet to have a truly great Galaxy forward beer in at least a year.
Also however the IPAs are less, robust? Often sweeter I think, and many kind of forgettably meld together. simply put I think they cater to the increasing call for sweet and lower IBU beer of the craft consumer which is not in line with a lot of people who liked their stuff when they were basically in a garage or even when they first expanded. I remember Green Power having a cool melon note and being unique and interesting when set against some other core offerings. Now too many are melon sweet messes.
Stick to non Galaxy forward 8.5 percent core beers and AGE and avoid HDHC beers if you want to get closer to the old. FLX also has been pretty good at times, like canadankua.

I heard all the cheering, banging of cowbells, etc and was going to come back for another marathon rant but realized I'm a week late.

@stairway2heavn nailed it. Were I going to get hands, those would all be easy pass, though maybe I try a 4 of True Green. The beer is different than it was though. I find it's usually a bit smoother now, but it's also worth remembering how strikingly different it was than other options at the time. As per local options, back in 2015 it only had to stand out from things like snpa, two hearted, goose ipa, etc. Now it has to be better than things like Wrench, King Sue, and any of a number of other beers (substitute wrench with whatever your locally available, pretty solid take on NEIPA).

He ain't in yet... Never got that talking point, this ticket is very establishment law and order.

Also I heard somewhere 2020 was the first race between two teetotalers... George Washington is spinning in his grave.

Those days are over, they know about all the craft cans, and the sticker 16oz stick up way more than the 12oz printed cans. The best cans to drink openly were the sixpiont skinny cans but I gotta guess white claw ruined that.

triple broccoli special reserve was my favorite OH beer this year, and the HDHC is barely any different, just incredibly flavorful and smooth

That's such a shame. I don't know of any breweries that do IPAs as well as OH used to. ASB comes close, but even they don't quite match the glory days.

One of best options for drinking a NEIPA 16oz can in public is a GT's kombucha bottle. Thick glass and wide mouth so you can smell the beer as you drink it.

Grabbed both Juice Capsules and HDHC Triple Broc on Sat and really enjoyed both. Triple Broc is very smooth, I didn't like most of what I tried from HDHC week so I was low with expectations but this one was worth it. Juice Capsules I enjoyed, I think it might end up being better in the next week or so. I didn't get the experimental ACE with phantasm, so nothing to compare to, but I feel like it does add something different here that I am enjoying.

As I’m currently drinking my last can of the EQ/OH space lab, I invented a new word...

    Meloncholy /ˈmelənˌkälē/. Noun.
    — a feeling of pensive sadness stemming from the fact that every freaking beer tastes like melon.

Grabbed a 4pk each of Stay More Elevated and Hop Showers w/Citra...the latter has a new label and is Brooklyn brewed I guess (black tab, and they've done HS + C before with the standard rainbow colored text IIR)? Anyway, the Hop Showers is quite tasty but does have a slight melon quality to it in case you're thinking and/or were worried about it. I thoroughly enjoyed my mid-day indulgence in it.

Will report back later on the Stay More Elevated.
