The first time I experienced the NEIPA "melon" flavor was a couple years ago when I tried Equilibrium's Fluctuation. It tasted so original at the time and I was blown away. Overripe, bordering on rotting cantaloupe flavor.

Now, it seems like many breweries have learned how to consistently pull that sort of flavor from hops. I especially get it from beers that have a combination of Citra and Galaxy. I've found it's even more pronounced in the HDHC beers, which may be from the use of Citra Incognito.

It's such an intense and delicious flavor, but it may be seriously contributing to some palate fatigue.

I was curious about the stay more elevated, as I'm hoping it's just a renamed Citra/Strata. unlikely, but.. you know... hoping

Fuck fuck fuck. Fucking suburbs. I guess this will be the major litmus test. Either the FOMO flame will die out here, or it'll be doused with gasoline.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't feel like the article went into the "technique" at all, just the ingredients used for it and the fact that it is a marketing term now.

^apologies if that came across as terse, was hopping for more info on the "technique"

Yeah it seemed less journalism, more PR work for the creator and OH. I don't play video games much anymore, but I remember crap "journalism" like this. Similarly, anything outside the old deadspin/new defector website in the sports "news" world has this same quality that I attribute to journalism dying and the emphasis on access to hot info/people in the industry rather than anything remotely critical or actually interesting, because then nobody wants to do a non-cakewall fawning interview.
Maybe an article with blinded taste testing, cost analysis... Something... Anything better than this.

We've outdone ourselves this week! We've got two new releases today, Friday. One with a ridiculous amount of hops, and one with Phantasm powder, a new product derived from New Zealand sauvignon blanc grapes rich in thiols designed to increase passion fruit/pineapple characteristics. Pick both up starting at noon today, Curbside Pickup link in profile. ⠀
    ⠀
lACEd in Space Imperial IPA V1 Experimental (8.5%) w/ Phantasm. This mashup of our classic All Citra Everything and Space Diamonds IPAs gets a hit of Phantasm powder to add even more depth and flavor to the big doses of Citra and Galaxy. $22 per 4 pack. ⠀
    ⠀
Tipping the Scales Imperial IPA (10.0%) At over 10 lbs/bbl this Imperial is a heavyweight. Packed with Mosaic, Citra, Galaxy, Strata, Simcoe and a hit of both Citra and Simcoe Cryo. $22 per 4 pack. ⠀

I know it will never happen but I still wish OH would sell single cans.
With that said I don't get why they're not distributing these 40+ option to local shops.
Seems like stores only get a few flagship beers.

FWIW when last I saw the Domino IG story with the board it was a steep premium for singles. Perhaps someone else who is closer to that location can figure out the markup.
