I am firing off some Alpine for some Abrasive and will report back. I live 12 miles from Alpine so am well acquainted with excellent IPA's. =) No bias either - I will admit I prefer HF IPA's over Alpine so will admit if Surly is superior as well. Truth will set you free!

Alpine might be the best hop-forward brewery in the country. If forced to choose between their IPAs & Furious/Abrasive/Wet, that would be a lot tougher!

I like Abrasive a little bit better, but like Pliny a lot too.

Put down your fork full of pasta before you take a sip. It's unfortunate that you ever noted garlic. Not that garlic is an undesirable flavor. In San Francisco, garlic goes on ice cream. But, I've never noted any garlic in any DIPA, Summit hops or no. Citra is one of my favorites too. If not my all time favorite. I'd sprinkle Citra on my garlic and be a happy boy.

I love it when you begin to see the replies that are borne of drunkenness. It's the computer equivalent of that guy who's spilling beer out of the pint he just ordered, but was reluctantly served. "Who cares??!" he mutters as he pours some non-descript wheat beer down his face. Oh yes, I remember those days. I cherish them.

Bad Boy and Hoppy Birthday are both incredible beers. Bad Boy is quite dangerous as the high abv is hidden quite well...

So you are assuming that I was drunk at 10:28 on Friday morning? Nope. Did you read my whole comment, rather than the "who cares"? When you post "What’s better Abrasive or Pliny" in the Midwest forum, what do you expect? Yes, MN homers (me inclded) love Abrasive more than Pliny; it is regional. Since you are from Cali, I guess you may like Pliny better than Abrasive. If you are from New England, it is Heady Topper for you (Todd and Jason don't kick me off). When these questions are posted, what are you expecting? Sidebar, if anyone wants to send me some Heady, I have some Abrasive for ya. If you want to know what kind of guy I am ask maximum12. I think he hooked you up with some fresh Abrasive, I helped him find some Abyss.

    Respect your elders...

As for Arbitrator, that video makes my head hurt. I was out at 5050 last year for the party and am sad I missed it this year. From your post earlier today, sounds like a good time!

You're reply was the douchiness of a drunk. Forgiven. However, I'm not "from Cali" so I'm objective. Which, frankly, was the reason for the post. Just to get feedback and for some enjoyment. I like to hear opinions from fellow BAs. Additionally, I'll go ahead and post your "whole comment:" WHO THE F$@! CARES! They are both great! Rant done...." Your replies are worthless and weak. I'm suddenly in the mood for some Twisted Sister...

I live in Santa Maria, CA--stalker. But, I am from Eastern KY. I also lived in Indiana for 11 years if you're writing a book. Let me know where it is you'd prefer posts to go and I'll start one.

    Please y'all, let's get along.

I have a really hard time picking favorite IPAs/DIPAs. There are so many good ones. Drinking an Abrasive right now, its so goddamn good that I can't stand it. Angel tears and all that. Punchier than Pliny, but Pliny is IPA perfection (I don't consider it to be a DIPA). The ultimate expression of the style. I want to say Abrasive since it's local, but I can't. I just can't.

I can't pick a favorite at all. I try but I can't forsake any of my humulus children. Got too much love in my heart for all them. Hopslam is great, Double Trouble is amazing, Two Hearted is perfect, Furious is completely different from all the above but magnaminous. Steel Toe Size 7 and 11 are the little big IPAs that could. Heady T is galactic juice from the hop mothership, but Surly Wet is lupulin baby's breath. Delicate and fleeting. Major props to Columbus IPA, Pretty Things Meadowlark, Boneyard Hop Venom, Founders Centennial, Racer 5, Racer X, and Odell IPA. Also, Hop Stoopid and Myrcynary, plus my twin sons Jack and Double Jack. So many others I haven't tried. Let's put our differences aside and join together as children of the green goodness.

I went to east KY once for work. It was dope. Cumberland gap was the shit and I had some Kentucky Bourbon Ale.

Nice place to visit, if you catch my drift. Kentucky Bourbon Ale is actually pretty good. I don't think it gets the love it deserves on BA. I'll be having some more in a few weeks for the first time in a year. So, maybe I'll have a different opinion. But, if memory serves, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I prefer Abrasive. Richer flavor and our home town brew.
