Other Half in IL (2020)

It's the same in Brooklyn, outside their big collabs during the anniversary week, we don't have to wait in line anymore (even then you can time it and grab your beer in 2 hour window with little wait.) It used to be wait in line or just get growlers fills. But the beer scene has caught up big time, now you can get OH quality stuff from KCBC, Grimm, etc at the corner store.

 

Interesting. I went out to run a race in 2017 and lined up for cans of Daydream in Green and Green Down to the Socks. I loved my draft pours and brought back a bunch of howlers to share locally.

 

Green Sox is one of their best under radar beers... Yeah 2017 was still the hype years, Grimm open their own place in the summer of 2018. Around then It started to change, EQ also ate into to their market share too. During the hype people would drive in 8 hrs away, line up at closing on Friday night and spend midnight-10am on line for the Saturday release. Next time you do travel bring your local brews, bc the line people still come to trade beers, but it's hardcore small group now, so they're gone by 11am so locals can grab beers and go. If you bring hop butcher and the like people will share everything you can think of from NY/NE and probably LA & PNW.

 

Drank a 4 pack of Broccoli tonight. Enjoyable beer, equivalent cheaper options local. Glad I made the purchase though.

 

According to The Open Bottle, we have a large (in terms of number of different ones) drop coming next week.

Be warned check dates, currently home base in BK has 50 beers for sale.

 

Agree - since there are still cans from the prior drop on shelves (near me at least).

 

Covid has knocked down the mighty giant of OH... They used be an exclusive buy at the brewery, not anymore.

This year they opened two more locations, DC & BK II so they gotta move product.

Month before COVID lockdown they had gun play on the line for the 6th anniversary ipa. Now it's too much beer to move.
