Man that Cantillon woulda made me happy. I managed a KBS at the evening which made me happy I've tried to get my hands on one bottle for 2 years now and I got a BBQ both of which are probably getting opened this weekend

I am curious if anyone's opened a 4 recently. I cracked one a little over a year ago and it was showing signs of sourness setting in. Like sour milk, I guess being a milk stout that makes sense. Plus I believe that was one either Todd or Omar I forget who recommended not aging. But hey to each his/her own, but I almost drain poured mine a year and a half ago, I had one glass and let everyone else finish it.

Thanks for attempting to correct me, my kids do that all the time, and I just love it:wink: For the morning, there was no raffle, but it was exactly as I stated:slight_smile:

I had a Four earlier this year and it was drinking very well. Never had it fresh, but the coffee was still very prominent and it was the best milk stout I've had easily. I've never heard of a milk stout getting sour after aging?

Good to hear it was drinking well still I absolutely loved this thing fresh and maybe that was why. Fresh it was one of the most amazing things to grace my lips and after hearing it wasn't recommended for aging I decided not to. Of course I'm beyond aging now, my 2013 New Years Resolution is to drink my cellar down, a feat not easily done as I homebrew like a mad man but I'm enjoying my beers now so much I don't need to buy as much anymore.

5 is drinking incredibly right now, hoping my 2010 Darkness' are doing the same.

As previously noted ya these were not raffled off. The only raffle in the morning was the backpack. I was 40th or so back and got a 6 pack of Westy some 5 min after getting inside.

Had to work yesterday & missed out. Might make a trip from Rochester today depending on what's left. Wish I could get some Cherry Rye, Coffee, or Westy.

You must have been right next to me in line. What I like about this event is that just about everyone has the opportunity to get something they want, but almost nobody gets everything they want.

Evening session. The '07 BCBS I snagged was pretty stellar. The Black Butte XXIII was nice, saw a guy carrying around a XXI. Various years of KBS (I grabbed a '10). Really, lots of vintages of great brews.

Plus, Ed was tossing around swag like it was going out of style. Overall, great event. It's not very often we get to participate in a treasure hunt in this day and age. I will certainly be back next year!

I would Personally like to Thank.. Frank, Patrick, Aaron, and Scott for all the ass busting work before, during and after the event( You have no Idea:astonished: ), I'll also mention Ed  for making sure this thing goes down every year, with the Craft craze at a all time high, and most beers being so dang hard to find, he has a way of hooking up many peeps with great stuff!! With everything going on ,he is still able to put on a beyond solid event!

Went for the night session. Had two Nate Dogs, several samples of BCBS 09, a sample of Clown Shoes Vampire Slayer, some Flying Dog Wild Dog Gonzo, some Pentagram. Snagged a Nemesis 09 and a Jubel 2010, plus two singles of Westy, which was awesome since I lost the raffle (but the sixers were 100 bucks anyways so I'm OK). Girlfriend grabbed several types of Lips of Faith and a Aventinus 2004. Great night overall, but I hope next year they have the type of tasting they had last year!

Thank you to everyone who showed up and made this year's BGC epic. It was exciting to see so many people thrilled to get hard to find beers. It's a wild time to be a part of the Minnesota craft beer scene and I can't wait to see all the growth coming in the next year. We appreciate the feedback and can't wait to make this event even better next year (if its possible to top Westy 12 releasing).

    Oh and Nate Dogs...fuck yeah.

It was you! I got there at like 6:30 and Cantillon was the #1 thing I was going for. I looked seemingly for ages to no avail :slight_frown:
Was a fantastic event nonetheless and I will just have to hope for more luck next year (Who doesn't love free Natedog's?)

I could blast you for your negative comments about the event, but I will avoid doing that since you are entitled to your opinion.

I do, however, remember Ed telling everyone before the doors opened that the bottles would be placed in random locations throughout the store. Would posting this info on the FB page or tweeting it have saved some trouble for a few, such as yourself, who showed up early not knowing about it? Possibly. However, your post makes it seem as though no one ever informed you about it.

If a bottle of darkness is what you were looking for, message me. I picked up a 2012 that I am willing to trade or sell for what I paid (18.99 plus tax).
