One Hop This Time: Simcoe from Night Shift Brewing in Boston, Massachusetts. I love these "one hop wonders:" who could imagine education (of your nose and palate) could be so fun. Glad these brews are making their way south to NY metro. Fond memories of the Commonwealth. Not that incident, but you get the point:

Thanks for posting! I hadn't heard of Apathy, because I stuck my head in the ground after Rakim's The Master (1999) thinking rap had died. It hadn't.

    Cheers!

Second beer of the day has me moving on to Moinette Brune from Brasserie Dupont. An 8.5% Belgian Strong Dark Ale that while being very good is not among my favorites for the style. However, I think I might have served this a little on the cold side, as it is opening up and improving as it warms. Big game tonight that both teams really need. I'll take Tampa simply because betting against Brady has not been a particularly successful strategy over the last two decades. Cheers.

Shout out to @cavedave because if I call you a legend it has much more to do with your accomplishments than you are. You are a young soul full of wisdom. Much love to you; I would never insult you. You are an OG for sure and I don't say that about many people.

Supporting local today, first w bottle shop stop followed by one of the few bars still open and doing things right.

This is a BA Imperial Double Milk Stout clocking in at 11%, $5 for 5 oz on a plastic cup due to COVID.

Lake Effect Brewing Fannie’s with Stiver’s Coffee.

    Appearance:
Dark brown black appearance, light tan bubbly ring atop the edges of the glass. 3.5

    Aroma:
Nice pleasant roast coffee, smooth bourbon backs well, bourbon aroma sweet. 3.75

    Taste:
Mostly barrel heat on this one, strong, sweet, the sweet chocolate malt adds to the sweetness. Runs roughshod over the coffee as well. A Jim beam shot in a milk stout. Very sweet, too sweet on my end. 2.75

    Mouthfeel:
Very thin body, not creamy at all. No carbonation, sweetness lingers post pour. 2.25

    Overall:
A rare miss from a local microbrewer which typically makes good stouts. Jim beam milk stout boilermaker, exacerbates sweetness, no coffee noted. 2.5

Passing on the non coffee version also on tap.

This dong goes out to @VABA ’s celebration of Bell’s returning to their state. Felt the sane when Bell’s did the same after a lengthy hiatus due to distribution shenanigans.

Nice update and word to bond to @VABA - I'm closing to killing a 4-pack if KBS in 35min let me know next time you wanna power drink. I love VABA as he drinks and doesn't give a shit.

VABA is my brother when it comes to getting shitfaced. 4 minutes per beer? Sounds good to me

Second pour here, also new to me. Going backwards down the ladder in terms of ABV.

Bent River Brewing’s Jingle Java Holiday Stout, a $6 16 oz draft coffee stout. 6.1% abv, 31 ibu.

Appearance: Dark brown black pour, light tan head resides along the ring of this Covid safe plastic pint cup. Light carbonation. 3.25

    Aroma:
Very strong peanut butter, coffee and vanilla aroma, in that order. Sweet, very very sweet. 3.5

    Taste:
Mostly sweet peanut butter, slight coffee and roast chocolate malt. Far too sweet, not balanced. 2.25

    Mouthfeel:
Wafer thin, flat, peanut butter lingers a very long time. 1.75

    Overall:
Definitely not for me, not sure who this was brewed for. Edit-per the bar this was last years’ DDH holiday (received and sat on in Spring) so explains the lack of coffee. Probably shouldn’t be selling this at this point. Done after this pour, will wait to return for fresh beer down the road, including the 2020 BCBS keg taps this mid December. 2.0

    @TheIPAHunter
, do you recommend the Mikerphone you had? Some of their beers are great, some good, some far too sweet even for the style, though that is what they are known for. It Smells Like Bean Spirit their most known series, sweet but very good.

    16 oz. can.
    Canned 10/21/20.
    11.0% abv.

Moderate pour yields a one inch off-white head over a murky golden body with very sticky lacing. Nose of orange, tangerine, slight candied lemon, and slighter tropical fruit. Taste of in your face hops with flavors of boozy bitter citrus peel, then tropical fruit in the middle, followed by more citrus peel and the slightest pine sap; finishing fairly dry. Not for the faint of palate! Nice feel and overall, quite the beast right here and glad to have finally tried it.
    Cheers!!

Afternoon BA's. Absolutely gorgeous day out, 60's and sunny. The West Coast Draft IPA thread made me crave one, so I'm at Freetail with a California Höpper. A totalitarian west coast style IPA, brewed with Chinook, Columbus, and Warrior hops, then dry-hopped with even more Columbus, Citra, and Warrior hops. Definitely hits the spot.
