Adroit Theory Cure for Knowledge (Ghost 906).

New for me. Poured cellar cool to a wide mouthed glass. Burnt, hazy copper color with a lively off-white head that actually hangs out as a 1/4” full-cover head for a good five minutes...quirky little surprise, as most of these high ABV types just burn away in seconds. Lots of lacing from top to bottom as it’s consumed.

Very strong nose of caramel and some other spice or grassiness I can’t quite place...Maybe a different hop in this, I assume, American barleywine.

First sips are a mix of burnt caramel, a twang of hop, some leather, and the flavor that’s on the nose...more of an oaky vibe on the tongue. Alcohol is fairly hot, but not in a distracting way. It’s a beast at 13.5%.

Mouthfeel is slightly oily, but has a clean finish thanks to the hop bite and alcohol presence. Nice lingering flavor.

Very easy to drink quickly via small bursts, while “sipping” to write the profile. Taking a big, full mouthful is where it really shines though: The various bitter, sweet, burning, leathery elements have a much more dynamic interplay when there’s more in the mouth. It gets a slightly creamy texture, too. That indescribable element is reminiscent of a Medjool date, but less sweet, as if it was more peel than fruit meat.

I know it's a Monday, but why does it feel like a Friday?

This is the pineapple version of Flower Power...

It is excellent - or at least exactly what I would've hoped for - just a slightly sweeter, fruitier/juicier version of the base beer (which I hold in high regard), far as I can tell - my fear is always that beers like this go too far with the introduced (fruit) element, but this is handled well - I like it...

Earlier, I had some snacks and a sipper of Beluga...

Yes, @micada shudders in remembrance...

One of those albums where I'm just listening to the whole thing again and again...

    Cheers...

Disappointing science! I thought I'd accounted for all the variables! :nerd::nerd::nerd:

Thanksgiving week. I see a lot of regulars MIA, probably either due to prep responsibilities or dealing with more than their fair share of personal tragedies. In any event, cheers to all of us still above ground and surviving the lunacy.

Now do I want another huge barleywine? Yes! But I should probably finish that half glass of Bell’s 35th from last night. Waste not, want not.

Oooooh, I got some of those and the 2019s in a trade with @Blutz, but I can’t pop any until he gets his...Wednesday most likely.

We cancelled having everyone over for Thanksgiving, which really sucks. That’s when we do verticals! I have 2015 regular FIS, then the 2019 BAIS, and the 2020 BAIS...goddamned SARS-CoV-2 pandemic! I have beers all over the joint, but the wife isn’t down with what I drink, so it’s going to be pretty stupid if I do it on my own.

    Come on, man...

    A sad left-over glass of Bell’s 35th Expedition Stout.

I mean, it’s beer. It’s a good beer, but... I just know it’s going to be disappointing.

Look at the pic. Sad, so sad. LOL! I’m drinking it though. I’m no quitter!

Edit: Nope. It’s a sludge bomb. Cloying...too much. I’m a quitter! Down the drain it goes!
