Yikes. The 2 prior years of BA ISLBS have been a drain pour for me because the overly roasty stout paired with over the top maple is something I just can't do. Haven't had this year though. Maple Deth was just nothing like BA ISLBS for me.

    Regardless, it's probably Tugboat's fault.

Agree on both counts (Maple in Maple Deth well blended, recent BA ISLBS very sweet, though not a drain pour because it's beer and I love beer). The Maplewood/Mikerphone collaboration on the other hand, may have been a drain pour if it went beyond the 6 oz served.

For Deth by Cherries, I liked the draft version at last year's release better. Felt the draft version was more balanced, cherry better integrated. This year's version is thinner than most Revolution stouts, but what really was a unique component was the fact I never, ever recall having a stout (regular, imperial and/or BA) with such a strong carbonation component. It recalled past experiences with Cherry Pop Rocks back in the day.

Overall, I liked this year's version, just noting the differences from the draft version which many here stated was very cherry / perhaps too much cherry. Could be draft vs. canned and/or the batch.

I love BA ISLBS, but that's because I love the "overly roasty" thing, and the maple is subdued a little by the barrel flavor in the BA version. I thought this year's BAISLBS was the best yet, and the least sweet.

I'm not saying Maple Deth is anything like BA ISLBS. I'm saying it's sweeter, and a lot sweeter than the reviews led me to believe.

Also, great success! I managed to find a place near me that was selling individual cans of Deth by Cherries, so I got two more.

I was just going to pile on the Deth by Cherries love. I was very impressed. The cherry notes were just enough to blend with the barrel notes. Awesome.

Have you only had one can or more than one?

I am really sensitive to sweet stouts and I did not find Maple Deth sweet at all ... Admittedly I have not had the mikerphone stout, but I personally didn't find maple deth all that sweet at all.

Yes, Deth by Cherries is phenomenal. I wish I'd grabbed a second 4-pack at Rev curbside last week. While I enjoyed the plums, currants and last batch of cherries, for me, none of those were in the ballpark with this.

I'm also here to mourn Ten Year Beer as my last can is now about 80% gone. Previous posters are spot on that it's drinking incredibly now, especially as it warms.

Seeing Deth by cherries around town - might make its way towards you.

Grabbed Deth by Cherries yesterday. Drank one earlier today. Pretty enjoyable, but I'll take Cafe and Deth’s Tar over it in a heartbeat. It was $44.99 at Binny's down here too, but $37.99 at another store. Glad I purchased at the latter.

Only one. Maybe it was an off can, I don't know? I liked it, but then again, I like sweet stouts.

Interesting - I've only had one can as well, so now I'm curious if my experience will change much with the other cans.

Cracking my first can of batch 2 honey jacket and... so much honey and it's so very sweet. Was this how batch one of honey jacket tasted fresh? I didn't get to crack a can of batch one honey jacket until it had 6-8 months on it.

Curious what others have thought about a fresh can of batch one honey jacket vs a fresh can of batch 2 honey jacket.

No, batch 1 tasted like SJ with a hint of sweetness. Granted, they used a dry component of that year’s SJ, so that probably balanced it out much more. This batch is like a jar of honey with a splash of whiskey.

Yep, I'm glad I only bought the one 4pack. The other 3 cans will be cellared to hopefully lose some of that sweetness. It wasn't drain pour sweet, but man, I felt like I came down with the beetus as soon as I drank it.

FWIW, to me this beer has gotten sweeter every time I’ve had it, which is every other week or so now. I am committed to cutting it with cafe or my last supermassive going forward, which has been a great combo.

Hopefully Rev announces limits for Ryeway, DB VSOD and Mineshaft soon. Last week was rough and I need to know how much plasma I need to sell. Blood type is ABDBVSOD+ if you are curious...
