Whew, its most definitely ANTEAD season here huh? Read through most of this quickly, in terms of costs here is what I will say. People don't often touch on the consumers playing a part in dictating the price as well. As breweries charge more and more for their product, sometimes of substantially less quality than others, people still rush to buy it. People doing that just enables "x" cost to be come the norm. I've spoke on here and other outlets on my disdain for, newer breweries particularly, opening and charging high costs for their products that often don't really hit the mark. For all intents and purposes, I think the prices Kane offers are relatively fair on their offerings in comparison to other places, for the product they put out. If someone wants to buy it or not shouldn't matter to anyone else, and any person's opinion is valid on why they will or won't. I do think the market is becoming more and more saturated and where does it go from there?

That being said, man eventbrite has become more and more of a disaster. My GF was able to get a set, so I ended up with one, but I got into checkout and have my information saved and when I tried to check out it kept saying to fix the highlighted error, even though there wasn't one. I even tried adding a different card and it gave me the same issue. Maybe I missed something, but using Eventbrite for plenty of releases I am pretty sure I didn't. It basically did that for 5 mins and then timed out.

This is just for discussion sake, as I like to figure things out. How much does proxy affect sales? You gotta think a lot, not only does it open the country, it also opens up more people asking their local family to try for them as now, GF, mom, dad, friend, etc isn’t force to make the drive with you like they would’ve without proxies. I’m sure that moved this thing significantly quicker. Thoughts?

Oh yes absolutely. I mean people were reporting, if you repeatedly reloaded the page, some (not most, or necessarily MANY) got to buy some. That's likely indicative of people logging in to buy it for a friend/family member, them explaining they got some, then they log out, cart eventually clears etc.
I mean, forget family or friends. People can use it to facilitate trades technically. They allowed 2 per person and proxies to reduce the number of people showing up and ensure a quick sell out. That's fine in my book. With or without COVID. I mean I was dumb lucky enough last year to have family at Kane the day the Maple ANTEAD was randomly released. I'm sure plenty of people probably traded for it or complained about the fairly random timing. Simply put there's far more people looking to buy ANTEAD than they'll ever be able to make. So it goes, but it's just beer. But certainly there's an argument for customer service in non pandemic times, to serve locals with no proxies and 1pp limits, which MAYBE would bring more people there to buy other stuff too, even if it's just regular old cans. But honestly only Kane knows what variation there is between having proxies and not in terms of non-ANTEAD sales on release weekends.

From my person experience wanting 1 set only, I had my GF trying as well as myself. She apparently got it as soon as it went live. I didn't know and was trying and didn't get until 12:12, that's when I had the checkout issues. So I feel like this release lasted longer than prior online ANTEAD releases have, figure it lasted 20 or so mins before it was officially sold out? But who knows. I think in a non-COVID world the proxy would have played a much bigger role.
It could be wishful thinking, but I feel like we will see bottles available onsite and/or for delivery once the pick up window ends. Might not be all 4 but every bottle release that has been online recently has had extras for some time.

I was going to pop one of the anteads tomorrow night for the game, but since the NFL decided to screw the Steelers again and move the game, I decided to get an early start to the weekend. Double Chocolate is really good. Reminds me of a barrel aged version of Boardwalk Twist, which was probably the most chocolate forward beer I’ve had. The barrel balances out some of the sweetness that beer had. Liking it a lot.

It definitely didn't technically last that long, at least from my friend's report (shrug?)... But I think it's an Eventbrite thing when it gets a big load of people including those that don't check out, since anecdotally I've heard this many times before with Kane and other "tickets." If you keep reloading you MAY get lucky 15 or 20 minutes in etc., But if you remain in the waiting room 12:00:01 on, you'll never escape. God only knows what coding does that, but I don't think the app is made for such demand honestly.

Thank God, afraid it was a pure DIABEETUS stout and I bought two which is a lot (for me). Thanks for the review! Have a great Thanksgiving.

Thanks man you too. It’s definitely not a diabeetus bomb. Some sweetness but no where near modern pastry stout territory.

I have 6 friends who succeeded- 2 in NJ, 1 in a drivable state(MD), & 3 who would require significant investment to pick it up w/o a proxy(MN, WI, KY).

So what's the deal with Kane not including prices/limits on announcements this week? Is that something that happened before and I just missed it, or is it a reaction to complaints about ANTEAD pricing (because that would be pretty petty and dumb if so)?

Not sure about the price other than not wanting too. But most of these releases have not been selling out first day so why place limits?

I don’t have strong feelings one way or the other on having limits on the beers that don’t sell out quickly, I’m just saying that it’s annoying to not post the price mostly, and less so not post the limits if they do have them (I think it was 6 on BAEB).

I get it. I was not aware there was even a limit on BA EB. I am surprised that these have been lasting so long. 3288 is somehow still around and that is their best stout of the year so far in my opinion.

I’m pretty sure they do not normally post prices on IG release announcements. You have to go to the ordering page to see the actual prices for cans and bottles.

They definitely used to post prices. I was just by there. $16 + taxes across the board on the stout and porter bottles.

I don't know why but a lot of breweries have been playing coy about pricing on social media lately.

Goddamn! It seems as if the 2 Evening Bells sold out. Was going to be in the area todsy and hoped to score either the standard 4 pack or barrel aged version.

Kane closed today for potential COVID exposure. Good on them for doing the right thing; I was thinking about making the trip up there a little later. Spared me the trip
