What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #2965

I heard it was @TheIPAHunter ’s birthday, so I called up my old pal, Boris, to see how I should honor this occasion. Boris said - Hiwatt (sorry, I forgot to mention that Boris and I are on a first name basis), definitely an IPA.

So cheers @TheIPAHunter. You’ve made me smile more than once with your posts. And that is not too shabby.

Drekker Odin Is My Overlord Lactose DNEIPA, 8% ABV. Pours bright yellow with a middle-finger of white head that left no lacing. Nose is tropical fruit, citrus and lactose, taste follows, plus pine, with slight sweetness and moderate bitterness. Excellent smooth mouthfeel with decent carbonation. Overall excellent to outstanding.

If I let her, Mia (a Bengal) would have played in the beer, as she's 1/8 wildcat and loves playing in water/liquids. Her wildcat ancestor reportedly fished, though she wouldn't have found any in my beer. Her size and the size of the 20oz glass make the 16oz can look small.

 

Having a 2017 Central Waters Brewer's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Barleywine Ale. Real nice notes of charred brown sugar, dark caramel, toffee, blackstrap molasses, toasty bread, mild chocolate, red grape, plum, cherry, fig, dried apricot, citrus melange, bourbon barrel, oak, vanilla marshmallow, dates, with herbal earthy piney hop notes. Pretty nice one. Cheers all!

 

Probably my favorite IPA and one that is so well executed for being so aggressive.

 

This is a pretty awesome beer for me personally. It was the first if not one of the first double IPA magnify brewed years ago.

The beer was created to celebrate the hop contract they settled on that allowed them to have access to Citra and Mosaic hops. Two amazing hops.

This beer is just as good today as it was then.

Just got back from some errands and picked up the tree. Letting the limbs fall and settle a bit before we start decorating. My wife loves Christmas much more than I, but I do demand a real tree if we are going to have one.

Grabbed some Festive Ale to get in the spirit. And think I’ll throw on The Grinch.

Unravelled IPA



This is a recording of a live jam that I entitled Worcester State Hospital. The backstory is that I wrote this tune with a friend of mine when we were 18 years old and I've been jamming over it ever since. He lived adjacent to the Worcester State Hospital, hence the name. Unfortunately, little remains of the hospital now since a large part of it was destroyed in a fire and the rest of it was pretty much torn down. This is one of my favorite tunes to jam over. The picture is the original administration building which has since been torn down, a historic loss to the city as far as I'm concerned. At any rate, I like this jam.

 

A classic. Very nice.
