"somebody" left the lights on in my cellar where my Citra Pale ale was dryhopping in a BetterBottle.
The lights were on for almost a day straight.
Is this going to be a skunked batch :slight_frown:

What kind of lights you got in there, man. Some grow lights?! You should be fine as long as you don't have some VHO lights pointed directly at your carboy. Regular lights are no big deal. Sunlight will screw you in a hurry, though.

You are 100% ok. I like to put black t shirts on my carboys just for extra insurance. All is well man.

Yes...or use buckets with or without t-shirts...or put up a sign to remind beer heathens to turn out the lights...or drink it and wonder what it would have tasted like : )

"Somebody" is always to blame in my house

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that standard incandescent lamp won't hurt it. Fluorescent can be a killer, though.

An upside down brown paper grocery bag with a hole cut out in the bottom/top works great for me.

My carboys go in a closet without a light. (man, does that closet smell sweeeeet when I take a peek!)

My temp-controlled chest freezer smells like dying when I lean in and take a deep breath.

I suspect you're catching a noseful of CO2 that has collected in the chest freezer. CO2 is heavier than air, so it tends to stay in the freezer. The closet doesn't capture the CO2. On the other hand, that heavenly aroma that you smell when you sniff the airlock (we all know you've done it) tends to stay around.

All it takes is doing it once. Won't do that again.

Heh, yes, I know. It was a dark joke in reference to passing out into a fermentation chamber.

    That would be bad.

And, yes, you tend to only do it once. So do your friends that you tell to "lean over there and get a whiff of that".

I figure one day I'll forget and it'll knock me out so I tumble in head first and my wife will find me asphyxiated with my legs sticking in the air...
