Thanks for that review. Sounds damn tasty to me.

Maybe someday Boston FMB Company will distribute this beer to my area so I can purchase this product? Or maybe not. Time will tell.

    Cheers!

So I held my bottle up to the light and there is definitely a presence of some fine particulates. This means one of two things: The beer doesn't age gracefully and is already spoiling (best by date of April 2021 and found in the supermarket fridge, so unlikely) or this Boston Lager is not filtered, which I believe would be a deviation from the typical BL, unless I'm mistaken.

But of their primary non-beer products, only Twisted Tea is an Flavored Malt Beverage. (The Truly seltzer is cane sugar-based "The alcohol (ABV 5%) comes from fermenting all natural cane sugar" while their ciders use apple products as the main fermentable) and they even got dinged by the TTB for adding too much alcohol to the Twisted Tea about a decade ago, resulting in a fine and a determination that it was a Distilled Spirits product.
So, Boston Beverage Co. maybe - but Molson Coors already got there first.

    Yes it is!

Feel free to select what ever word (or acronym) that suits your fancy to replace the word beer in Boston X Company.

Perhaps you would prefer malternative? Or maybe alcopop tickles your fancy? Or...

    Cheers!

    Hmmm... .... oh, I got it.

SCTV (for Seltzer, Cider, Tea and Various others malt beverages).

Gee, why does that sound so familiar...

Thanks for digging up those quotes; I either gave away or misplaced my copies of the pocket guide.

I think it does make sense if you look at it in a very broad sense, really just talking about the hop profile overall and not specifically the flavor.

Well it does have a Red Sox look to it now which makes sense since they are the main beer provider for the team. Ill also say its not as bland looking as what Miller was doing to all its brands for a while there ,Im talking about the Harp rebranding and everything else in big dumb bold lettering.

Harp is a Diageo brand, no connection to the now-defunct Miller Brewing Co.

How so? Because of the colors? May as well have a -- well, Twins look too. The shield isn't Sox, the font isn't Sox.

    @AlcahueteJ -- thoughts?

Yeah I don’t really see it.

It has red, white and blue colors, that’s about the only similarity.

Hoping its just a 2020 thing. Maybe something to do with limited resources this year? I don't know just speculation. Similar 'remastering" took place with the Winter Lager too.

    Probably not.

They “remastered” Summer Ale in 2019.

How far are you from the NY border?

All indications is that BBC is test marketing the remastered Boston Lager in New York. And if this is the case, if New Yorkers choose to not purchase this 'new' beer in sufficient quantities they likely will not roll out this product elsewhere.

    Cheers!

Do you ever travel into NY for other reasons (e.g., business, visit family/friends,...)?

If so, maybe pick up a six-pack of the 'new' Boston Lager when you are in NY.

    Cheers!

I just bought a 6 pack of what I believe is the new recipe (expires in April 2021) and I can say its definitely smoother and doesn't have the big hop spice/bitterness it once did...like last year haha. Im not sure why they would tone down the flagship beer to appease to the seltzer folks who could try actual their beer....as if Truly drinkers even know its a Sam brand.

Yep you are correct. I was just talking about the trend a couple years ago to make every brand name in bold lettering kinda like how helvetica was a big think in the 70's and 80's.

There's a commercial at this site, with Koch and Grinnell, for the "remastered" SABL in which it is stated by Koch that it is "only available in New York" *, it also shows the sixpack holder clearly noting the fact, along with the neck label.

    * Of course, as with any test marketed brand, that could change.
