They just released a blend of Even Mo Hygge (Evil Twin) and Lava Dome (Great Notion) with a bit of a tweak. I picked up a 4-pack, I’m probably gonna crack one tomorrow night, so I’ll report back. It’s not cheap, but I’m sure it’s gonna be great.

In all honesty, it’s a bit of a chocolate bomb. Thick and smooth. Full disclosure, I was pretty tired, had had a bunch of other beer before, and may have been a little too cold when I opened it but I really only got the chocolate and cocoa powder over anything else. Next can I drink I think it’ll be room temperature the whole way through.

I may or may not have a can of last year's Four release "cellared" in the back of my fridge, a la 120 Minute... will report back on the vertical tasting

What do we all think 5 will be? My guess is a combo of 4 and their yummy (sarcastic) just released pumpkin ale - a first ever 12% pumpkin IPA. Tell me that doesn’t sound delicious .

Please just give us a midweek, low key DIPA for the 5th Anny.

I really wouldn’t anticipate anything “big” in regards to this anniversary. Although they deserve to have a huge blowout (hell, 5 years as a (successful, especially) brewery must feel like a decade), I doubt with all the covid restrictions going on, theyll be able to celebrate the way they’d want to or, even, have a big release.

Hopefully we get something around 8.5 for the Anni beer. 12% IPA last year was a bad choice, who the hell wants a 12% IPA!

Will be interesting to see how they release it, midweek would be best, but with no time slots like some of the other breweries, that could even be tricky with a cluster of people showing up at same time.

One great thing about brewery, I don't think they have ever put the tose in any of their IPAs.

Agreed. In all honesty, I wasn’t a huge fan of 4. It’s hard to get the abv up that high without getting that sweet syrupy yellow onion taste.

This batch of 4 is, to be blunt, not good. Hard to even pinpoint certain tasting notes, but they're all pretty bad. Onion? Isopropyl alcohol? I don't know...but it's a mess.

Here's to hoping that they're not trying to "up the ante" this year.

They teased something on IG a few days ago about something in a barrel so I’m thinking a stout of some sort.

at 12% was easy to pass up this one when it came out and now. Seemed like a very odd choice to me for an Anniversary beer.

Maybe two Anni beers, one IPA and one Stout?

Cracked a can of 5th Anniversary just now. For having a hop bill that's comprised entirely of hops I don't normally care for, this somehow works for me. Also surprisingly smooth/easy drinking for having a bunch of hops that I think of as being exceptionally "dank."

Not the best beer I've ever had from them, but definitely an above average Sand City beer.

Five is fantastic. Best DIPA they’ve made this year. It’s so danky.

Saw the new digs today...gonna be beautiful. Nice, big outdoor area with a gas line outside for a fire pit and possibly a retractable tent. Inside is huge with a beachy wood motif thing going on and a nice long wooden board from door-to-door for people to sit like an extended bar. Barrels and tanks look beautiful. Should be about a month, looking forward to it.

I drank one on Halloween, and I was already pretty fucked up, but I loved it. Pretty balanced and thick enough. I have another one I’m gonna hold onto for awhile.
