That doesn't surprise me. "Midwest" is quick and lighthearted way to relate the beer's style as it pulls influence from both coasts and meets somewhere in the middle. I'd be happy to try more "East Coast IPAs".

Unfortunately, I think they've mostly gone the way of the WCIPA; i.e. still around but overwhelmed by the NEIPA craze. Here in CT, New England Brewing Company is the only brewery that I am aware of still dedicated to that style of IPA.

I'm failing to think of which local breweries have made "Midwest" IPAs. Any time I see it, it's usually what I order. It's definitely not common though.

Fortunately, our big NE IPA producers here have released some WC IPAs recently. I hope this becomes more of a trend. Their NE IPA work is great. Adding diversity to their portfolio through different IPA styles would keep me engaged more, as I otherwise don't enjoy NE IPAs to order them week after week, especially at the price point they demand.

Have you ever tasted Victory HopDevil? It was first brewed in 1996 and is still being brewed today (who knows what the future holds?).

    Cheers!

I have not. We do not get Victory distro'd around me. I think all I've tried/traded for from them is Java Cask.

Those local brewers are really missing the boat - and damn, they came so close: 51, 52...

But, c'mon. 53 is a prime number - anyone will tell you a prime IBU rating is always superior.

I do notice (unless I missed it?) that no one's yet mentioned the existence of the next big thing: IPS - India Pale Seltzer.

This is definitely a case where 'add-junk' is more appropriate than adjunct.

Just to give that dead horse one more whack.

I didn't know adjunct referred specifically to fermentable. The dictionary definition for adjunct is basically a non-essential addition to something, so I figured that would cover it. I didn't think beer had a separate, semantic iteration of the word.

Sierra Nevada seems to be working this new style called "celebration IPA". I dig it!
