DBVSOJ Cherry Rye was just ridiculously great! Loved that beer and hopefully, just maybe 1 day they will release that in cans!!

I don't agree with this take, for what it's worth. Porch Drinking referred to this year's Straight Jacket as being drier as well, while most other reviews I saw called it [leaning] sweet(er).

I'll agree that SJ tastes sweeter. Looking forward to today's releases!

Yeah, this is a sweet Straight Jacket for sure. We all have different palates, of course, but I'm stunned anyone would call this year's "dry".

First time the line of cars has kind of sucked at Rev...I suppose usually I'm an hour earlier...

Pfff. You guys drink the beer before reviewing them? Not this guy. That’s why I love the notes of watermelon jolly ranchers and charbroiled halibut in DBVSOD. And the mouthfeel is like drinking a kale smoothie but with the kale being replaced with a barrel aged stout.

Oof, I just got home (30+ minutes away) and see that they didn't put my crowler in the trunk with my order.

Yes, I walk up and this was the first release I noticed a dozen plus cars queuing on Kedzie, typically only a few at most. I didn't see a fourth station this time, but I may just not have seen it looking down the block. Fast and easy as always thanks to the Rev staff, both the staff servicing and the computer system they established earlier this year to accommodate COVID online sales.

Hoping to still be able to score these releases in the future, after the well deserved increased interest & hype Deep Woods has generated the past few years.

Sorry to hear this. Friday is the toughest day by far because there's so much traffic on Kedzie, versus Saturdays & Sundays during COVID times, the roads are wide open.
Ugh, so sorry . We'll make it up to you.
We'll make sure that's the case.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you all think of these three. I know we've done Mineshaft before, but it's been forever. It's a really interesting change of pace in my opinion, where it's so about the barrel, and less about the viscosity, etc. My favorite term that I think I steal from Marty is "a sophisticated sipper".

    Can't wait either!

Have you been able to try DB VSOD yet? Thoughts?

There was a 4th station functioning between 1-2:00. Yeah it was probably a 20 minute wait on Kedzie but it’s release day and peanuts compared to lining up on your feet. So Saturday or Sunday is the way to go if you want in and out.

I proxy’d for 3 people plus myself so I caused a longer transaction and contributed to the longer wait times for sure. I enjoyed that the car/truck in front of me was actually a guy just getting out to ask what the lines were all about haha. Last thing: Rev staff crushed it as usual

I am the worst and I have not, though I assure you that everyone who has ever met me has hit me up for a can :stuck_out_tongue: I'll be lucky if I end up with 1 to my name.

Stopped by around 5:40 and things were quick and smooth (although Kenzie traffic sucked - but that has nothing to do with y'all).

Eh, I was being bitchy because I overdid it at P3 last night. Line moved but just a hot time is my guess. Usually in and out in a few mins, today was about 25+. Just happy you guys are still slinging great beer and we're able to grab the releases. The crew does a nice job once you're at the station.

Yes, and YES! Every experience for pickup since April has been A++.
I have taken it seriously when they ask for you to print out the order - they are very grateful when you do. (with my proxy orders I bring a spreadsheet with them all... #TotalNerd #DadHabits)

And it's getting cold - tips those folks! I forgot with my last order so I went back and had fun with the name on it - I hope they noticed - they're a great crew.

Wait are we supposed to print out our order? I've never done that .... I have it on my phone if they asked to see it, but they've never asked for it, just the name on the order ... I feel bad if we were supposed to have printed it out.

So DBVSOD is wayyyy too easy to drink for 17%, the extended aging seems to have negated any kind of alcohol heat. It’s rich and deeply complex, I get multiple layers of dark chocolate and vanilla, maybe some dark fruits and just a hint of musk. Mineshaft is next and I’m very thankful it’s below 13%.

They posted that the last couple of times to help speed things up: https://twitter.com/RevBrewChicago/status/1337410927331840001

They're fine if you don't, but since the weather can be crazy, and with COVID, and with the 5 orders I pick up each time for friends, I put the names and order numbers on one page and hand them the paper when I pull up.
It helps keep them organized and then they don't have to stay near my car and listen to my muffled voice (through a mask) spit out names and/or order numbers.
