Honestly they should just be selling you a picture of a beer at that point.

You're both right. As soon as it's shown to be effective in treating one person's previously un-treatable illness, everyone wants it to be their wonder drug too. The fact that it actually does work for some things only makes the snake oil factor worse, because it's easier to debunk these things when they really are just total fucking nonsense.

Crossfading: CBD is non psychoactive, it actually combats the psychoactive attributes of THC. Drinking a CBD beer will not get you high.

CBD is not MJ: CBD is a part of nearly all cannabis plants, like Beta acids in hops. It is in much higher concentration in Hemp, which by law has less than 0.5% THC, which is why CBD oil is extracted from Hemp, not basic MJ. No one is adding MJ to beer. They are adding Hemp which is not a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance.

CBD Effects: It's extremely naive to blanket statement the effects of CBD. CBD falls into the hybrid category of Cannabis, a blend of Sativa and Indica. Some strains are more Sativa heavy, others more Indica. Generally CBD relieves anxiety, assists in pain management, and alleviates disorders that effect the brain. Dependent on the S:I ratios it can make you super relaxed and assist in sleep, or it can awaken the mind leading to focus and an increase in the imagination.

Snake Oil: Are the effects of CBD real... absolutely... exaggerated... probably. But, you also have to account for people walking into a dispensary, asking for CBD, expecting to have it make them go to sleep, but purchase a strain that energizes the body, then say "this shot doesn't work!" No, it does, but your dumbass didn't research the strain for its medicinal properties and possible side effects.

Terpenes: This is where stuff starts to get a little crazy... in the beer industry we tend to focus on hop terpenes as flavor contributors only... are these terpenes/oils going to give me pine, lemon, rose, pineapple, cedar, or grapefruit flavors? The cannabis industry is beginning to look more into what effects each terpenes has on the mind and body. Does linalool cause drowsiness or does it stimulate? What about caryophyllene? Is couch lock strictly an effect of THC, or does geraniol impact it? What about when it is heated? What about when it is oxygenated? Have you ever had 2 different IPAs of the same ABV and yet had them effect you differently? Research into terpenes could be the key to why.

So just to clarify, most of the CBD product that is available nationwide is processed from hemp. In legalized states, there is also CBD that is processed from the flowering plant. In my experience, the CBD from hemp is almost bordering on placebo-effect territory. However the CBD extracted from the actual cannabis flower is much more effective. Those extracts can have a very, very small amount of THC in them, but still above trace amounts. That way the dynamic ratio between the minute amount of the psychoactive THC and the much larger amount of the calming CBD can peacefully balance, especially for those who do get extremely panicked from high amounts of THC (i.e. me haha).

Just sayin, you can’t knock it til you try it. Whoever believes anything is a miracle drug is an idiot. We are all very much the same, yet still so different. As stated earlier, TETO.

We're not on pot advocate so I'm not going to get too deep into this but the short version is that "strain" names offer, at best, incomplete information, and most of the time no relevant information whatsoever.

Transplants Brewing in Palmdale, CA, made a terrific one called CatBirD. For a while it was second only to Elder Troll as my favorite IPA of theirs.

I have had the hemporer. It was a really good beer imo it was really smooth with a medium body. There was a really good earthy flavor with a hint of the hemp.

Maybe I'm too inexperienced, but making beer with CBD? I think this is a strange idea. CBD makes people sleepy. If you want to become sleepy as fuck, you can just pour some diphenhydramine in your beer, lol. I prefer not to consume CBD and beer at the same time. It is impossible, BTW, because for a good sleep I use CBD gummies. I can't chew gummies and drink beer at the same time. And I think this is a good thing for me. And one more thing - I tried to drink CBD oil - it's bitter as hell.

I’ve tried the CBD for my arthritis I didn’t notice any improvement. My brother just got his card for Medical Marijuana, but he’s got a serious back injury with no hope of even surgery helping. He’s only 57 and it’s only going to get worse, as it is now he’s damn near housebound. Pain control is his only hope,

Only interested if it has both alcohol and THC and tastes good. Pinapple Express Hazy IPA would be a good one for example. Now I’d gladly pack $25 for a 4 pack of 16oz cans for that. Otherwise, I’ll just stick with Torpedo for $10.

I've only had one from smaller local brewers and they... they haven't been good. Like to an extent where I didn't even review them because I don't want to drag down a brewer's score based on an experiment.

They all have an unpleasant taste that's kind of herbaceous and kinda like potting soil.

The effects of CBD are mild and combined with beer I could not notice them, but perhaps someone whose system is less drug-riddled might notice the effect.

Local brewery sells CBD shots to add to your beer.

I have yet to try it. I've been reluctant, as my general experience has not been good (taste wise) when adding CBD to already flavorful drinks.

Gotta ask: is Oskar Blues' Can O' Bliss series a wink wink nudge nudge, or were they just naive?
Nah - OB is too dope to be naive.

All CBD isn’t created equal, some have no THC, others have minimal amounts regulated by law. If you take the wrong one and have a professional license you will have some splaining to do in front of a board. You better keep your receipt and the bottle, but it could still cost you your license. No idea how tight they are under these circumstances. This area creates some grey when previously it’s black and white and your license suspended. My wife’s a nurse she’s had many nurses fail drug tests, she required by law to report them to the nursing board, and they’re usually suspended for a year. Depends, you steal narcotics from a cart or patient could be a lifetime suspension plus criminal charges.

Once cannabis is legalized at the federal level it may do away with these draconian rules (and become similar to alcohol ones)

My guess is not, like Airplane pilots, nurses, doctors, dentist, there will always be rules and a zero tolerance. Even regular workers, you get hurt on the job what happens? You go for a drug test, fail you get fired and your workers comp is kaput. You can ease the legality part, but the workers liability is what it is.

I'm predicting it will fail miserably. Might be popular with the dwindling crossfit crowd though, they seem to be all in on CBD.
