What beer are you drinking now? #2978

Have a good Tuesday. Off again today. I slept for 12 hours yesterday afternoon and then woke up to skype video call with my gf til 1130PM, and then I felt tired again and slept until 330AM. I haven't eaten anything since we went out to dinner on Sunday, so it's been over 36 hours. I went to Save A Lot in Barberton at 430AM, only grocery store open 24 hours in a 10+ mile radius. I will definitely go back regularly. I got Steak, Chicken, and a couple cans of vegetables. First time broiling a steak, I usually use the George Foreman grill, but these were big steaks. Got it to medium doneness with a thermometer pretty quickly.



Awesome IPA as always. Voodoo Ranger original. We have the tall cans in the fridge at work all the time. I grabbed one yesterday after work. Great Mosaic and Amarillo profile. Will buy again.

Listened to them all night, even as I was sleeping. Amazing band. I think this album is the sleeper I should have listened to more often this year. Definitely in the top 5.

Birrificio Pontino - Sons of Shiva - Double Dry Hopping Harvest Pale Ale (7%)

Double Dry Hopping Harvest Ipa (therefore with fresh hops, used within 24 hours of harvesting).
The nose immediately pungent hints of fruit.
Opaque yellow color (as practically always in their beers ......).
Soft and evanescent foam.
In the mouth the beer is quite flat, very little carbonation and rather light body.
To the taste hints of tropical fruit (pineapple and mango), citrus hints and evident herbaceous notes given by the fresh hops used.
As the beer approaches room temperature, the malty part also emerges.
Fair beer in 2020 but compared to the one drunk in the past ... it seemed much more a Double Dry Hopping Ipa than a Harvest Ipa...

Good morning everyone. It's juice time.

 

For everyone that thinks my eating pattern is weird, today is the 11th anniversary of intermittently fasting. Since the end of my last semester of college. Starting bulking after that I think. Just been maintaining for the last 8 years. It's more convenient to just eat one big meal a day for counting calories, and especially good for eating out since you just eat as much as you want and I've still not been getting fat . I try and limit the dining out. Me quartering my beer consumption sure has helped me out! Haven't been drunk in a while.


Also caught my cats being nice at the top of the tree. Chuck (white face) is usually very territorial about the top of the tree, but Bo was already up there and he decided to share with him, instead of pushing him off. To be fair Bo is bigger and has thrown him off the side before, but Chuck is just more bossy. It didn't last very long though.



I really need to review more often, but I care more about other things now. I figure that me and my GF should share/drink down my cellar, then I can just work on buying new beers. Still haven't made a REAL beer haul in over 2 months.

This one is a new review. Great Lakes Tripel Dog Dare. Awesome tripel. Lasting fluffy head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big lemon, orange peel, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, banana, bubblegum, peppercorn, clove, honey, wheat, white bread dough, biscuit, toast, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, woody, grassy bitterness; and yeast spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter/spicy dryness. No hop astringency. Minimal warming 9%. A bit more banana than usual for the style, but is still plenty bitter, spicy, and crisp. Nice honey, biscuity malt backbone finishing well enough dry, with a bit of lingering hop resin. Loved it. 4.13

Howdy advocates, just another morning dealing with ....the consequences of insomnia.
Mostly awake thinking of the stakes for the folks we DIDN'T get to hire after a long tenure-track professorship search that just concluded yesterday. Over 200 people applied, 1 person gets it. Ouch. Anyone who thinks that academia is an ivory tower has never experienced the academic market. It's brutal....more like an ivory pit of despair, oh, and not made of ivory.
Meanwhile, Logsdon Helles... appropriate. Cheers.

 

Is that when you only have a period of an 8 hour window to eat whatever you want? I know I can google it but I figured beer would ruin your cut? Awesome you can get it done.

 

Mrs. Z was a tenured professor at the University of Florida when she retired in 2015. She still has many colleagues, mostly scattered now across the country, none of whom are happy in their academic/administrative situations...Mrs. Z doesn’t miss academia one little bit...

Tastes like a vanilla and pecan bread pudding with caramel and chocolate and bourbon drizzle. A little on the sweet side, which is ok by me. Delicious!

Yea that's one of them, there are a lot of ways to do it. Alcohol doesn't ruin weight loss, its just calories like anything else. I usually try to cut down on carbs most of the time and replace those calories with beer. I used to bike a lot so that helped back when I was drinking a lot more. I am going to get back in the saddle in the spring when my GF moves in, then we can go ride together.
