Me either. Used to get Hofbrau in Louisiana about 7 or 8 years ago, but only see it when I go to Texas now.

Good luck on that procedure (not finding Spezial, but the one you've been quarantining for).

Thanks @steveh, all went well, I’m all iced up on the couch right now. Hopefully I’ll be in the mood for some beer in a few days.

Have any of you had the German version?

Do you mean in situ? Not me, and that's why I pointed out HB doesn't list the beer on their website -- I can't imagine it's not available in Munich, but why no mention by the brewery?

You get the mini-kegs of it in Maryland? Wish they would send those here!

Not available in the Harrisburg, Pa area either. Neither is Paulaner Salvatore anymore. I don't understand why. Distribution area rights I suppose? Dopplebocks are hard to come by in this sea of IPA's, sours and Barrel Stouts, unfortunately. They are my favorite style. On the bright side we finally got Samichlaus Schwarzbeir.
Maximator, Tröegenator(meh..) is about it. Späten Optimator isn't even around anymore. I guess everyone blew out their taste buds with flaw covered hopped up beers and just can't taste the complexities of a superior Dopplebock? Bummer.

Looks like Silver Spring Beverage out of Mechanicsburg is your HB distributor -- call them up and tell 'em you want Winter Spezial!

WOW, you can expect some amazing experiences when you dive into the Double Bocks. Try the Salvator (Paulaner), or course. Try the Optimator (Spaten). Try the Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel. Try the Korbinian (Weihenstephan). I would even dare you to try Weizenbock variety, start with the Vitus (Weihenstephan). There are many more, but those are the ones you will find quite easily in the States.

There’s a place called the beer cave by my house they post inventory on Facebook weekly. I seen it in the backround of there post one night. I went by There they had two left I picked one up very cool looking keg I saved it for Christmas decorations. Took three days to drink it on the third day the carbonation was gone but still tasty I do think the six pack bottles tasted better though.

FWIW -- Korbinian is one of my few straight 5 ratings. I think I like it more than the Spezial because it's not as hot with alcohol.

Nonetheless, I didn't rate the Spezial (Delicator) shabby either.

Thanks. I'll give them a shout but I live a mile away from Breski's who does stock Hoffbrau, just not that one.

I will await your discussion on Ayinger Celebrator.

    Cheers!

P.S. I will be discussing my bottle of Hofbrau Winter Spezial in this weekend's Holiday Beer online tasting thread.

I love Korbinian as well. So smooth and delicious. Does Weihenstephan make a bad beer? I don't think so. I haven't bought any Korbinian yet because the dates I've seen on them so far are terrible (middle of 2019 bottle date? No thanks). It's on my "wants" list though. Hoping to grab one soon.

I had and rated it about a year into my craft journey, gave it a solid score (3.81), will try to find another as a result of this thread.

That said, when I think of Dopplebock beers, three thoughts come to mind:
    • The Dopplebock Lent Diet
    • Little white plastic goats ornaments and
    • Ayinger Celebrator
Thinking about attempting the famous all Dopplebock lent diet this year.

If they have other Hofbrau (Munich) labels, they should be able to get the Spezial. Whether they *want* to is another question.
