It also depends what time of day. Afternoon is not so bad. During "rush hour", the area is much more congested. At 1pm on Wednesday, I only waited through one stop light cycle.

Huge headache. If you aren't using Waze which should recommend the re-route, look into the alternate route exiting at Torrance Ave.

But why permanent? The pandemic isn't permanent...

They sent a letter to their investors.

The pandemic wasn’t kind to the restaurant industry and they are no exception.

I'm sure there has to be an underlying reason, just makes no sense. They didn't even make an attempt last summer when other breweries were doing better than pre-pandemic numbers. They would have nailed the summer if they stayed open. Not sure we will ever find out but has to be something else going on...

Of course it hasn't been (as it continues to not be)...but they aren't just in the restaurant industry. Closing it down so early in the year had to save them a ton of bleeding I'd have thought, and they already own all that property so I'm not sure how or why permanent closure is even a consideration, unless they plan to demolish it and start a different restaurant and not call it a "pub."

3Floyds was my favorite brewpub, so a permanent close is disheartening. Hopefully it's as Sabtos suggested, and they're just closing so they could reopen under a new name with new construction... something like 3Floyds Torture Chamber & Tavern.

Complete guess..but maybe they have been bleeding money from the distillery and used the pandemic as an "out"? That building sat there for years, and frankly I have not heard one person even talk about it since it opened. Maybe they blew through all their working capital, then when the pandemic hit said "well, here's a way out of this?" . In the end I haven't a clue. It just seems like a very quick pulling of the plug for a brand that has been on the Mt. Rushmore of craft breweries for a decade plus.

Here’s my take. There’s always been more to it. They have allegedly been losing money for years (the pub).
The pub is also a separate business that was established 15+ years ago with investors before kickstart & gofundme were things.
A lot of people, myself included, said at the beginning when they announced they wouldn’t reopen until there was a vaccine that it sounded strangely convenient. Rumors have always been swirling that they were going to close (and not the kind of here, or the kind that involve fire).
When their planned expansion that they had all of those artists renderings of never came to fruition I grew suspicious.
I wish them luck. I hope they do something. It wouldn’t surprise me if that something is under a different name, in Chicago. I just hope that as a brewery without any public tasting room or pub space they don’t get lost in the seas of cans & bottles on store shelves.

They said this spring they would be closed for 1 to 2 years. Back then that didn't make any sense. Perhaps they're planning another location to reopen. Who knows. I miss the restaurant, but then again I miss going to restaurants all together. Bottom-line, I'm not going to believe anything until THEY formally make an announcement.

I would go there with a friend for Easter Sunday every year. It was "our thing".

I just don’t get how that place didn’t make money? Unless you went on a Wednesday at 2pm, I never saw that joint not packed to the brim. Could’ve easily road out the pandemic

Agreed. I remember not long ago (~3 years) having to always stand in line to get a case of Zombie Dust at the Kiosk and the Brewpub was always packed.

This was just my observation..but to me it seemed that the table turnover time was always at least double what you'd expect at any other restaurant or taproom. People would sit there for hours (undoubtedly to justify the drive from Chicago and parts elsewhere). It was always packed every time I went, but with people sitting there for 2+ hrs rather than letting a new group coming after an hour - hour fifteen..I don't know, I'm sure that pulls down revenue. I watch enough Bar Rescue I should know this.
