But on the plus side, I hear GSO's Christmas party is off the hook!

This years Chocolate Reign is on another level. It’s a world class barrel aged beer. As I’m drinking it right now at close to room temp I’m ranking this as the best beer of the year for me.

Double Barrel BT finished in Vanilla Barrels from the Virtual Box. That beer is insanely good. The beers I get from the Bruery RS are the very best I have access to. Nothing else I get from distro in my area even comes close.

Did a blind taste test of 19 bourbon county and for a spell and they were both very similar. Both tasted great. Main differences Bruery was a bit thicker and more chocolate on the tongue. I got similar barrel on the nose if not more with bourbon county. Bruery had more carbonation. Both were very similar and tasted very good.

Opened Furst tonight and it is pretty amazing. Strong chocolate and strawberry and heat up front and as it warms everything blends together perfectly. Was planning on saving it longer but got worried about people saying the strawberry was falling off

How does it compare to last year? How's the level of chocolate and sweetness? I only picked up one bottle, so far, since I thought last years was a little barrel heavy. I'd be down to get more if it was sweeter.

It is different than last year. The ‘19 version had a wet oak flavor that did dry it out a little but this years has the classic Bruery bourbon sweetness for sure. Also the vanilla is very forward. I let it sit out of the fridge for over an hour before opening it. Once it got completely up to room temp it was magical. Definitely buy more, I promise you won’t regret it!

What I don’t recommend is solo doming it like I did haha. Woke up very groggy this morning!

I originally read this as you did a blind taste test of 19 bourbon county brand stout variants and was going to congratulate you on surviving ha.

Oof. Wanted to like Peter Veeder. No BT to be found. Essentially a buttery cab with too many off-flavors. Hate to say... drain pour.

IMHO double barrel Gray Monday is my favorite for the year.

I agree. Hidden ABV plus a tinge of smoke to make it taste like smoked hazelnuts *insert beautiful.gif*. Granted I have yet to have Furst.

Same boat on that one, but it was still a bit better than Peter for me at least. Really enjoyed Yount and the Rutherfords but I feel like these bt/wine hybrids are steadily moving away from great beer to bad wine.

This year’s Choco Reign on the other hand, is fucking amazing.

    Must be... still no package.

I’m so eager to see if Mash PBJ has any PBJ, if BTGR is as boozy as reported, if Peeter Veeder is great beer or bad wine, and how off the hook CRe is... but until GSO gets it to me, I won’t find out.:cry::cry:

I got just ideas of pb from mash pbj. Like drinking a beer while someone makes pb cookies in the next room. Lots of boysenberry, but I found it artificial tasting.

BT GR is def boozy, but in the best way.

I thought that Mash PB&J had some definite PB in it - much more than this year's PB&J Thursday, which was all J (IMO). The CRe I opened was less "casky" and dry than the 2019 version and maybe a little more chocolate (which did develop more as it warmed). Going to hold the rest until next year to see how they develop. And BTGR was nice and boozy

Hope you get your shipment soon.
