Not sure if that is what it's called, but I saw it this morning and it mentioned something about you have to use the trade forum for all trades, besides other things. I can't find this mentioned anywhere in the rules. Can someone point me in the right direction to view this alert or where it mentions these things. Cheers!
Check Todd’s last post in this thread, #77, he mentions it there. https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...ates-december-2020.652797/page-2#post-7136458
The need for reminders was discussed in two recent threads and an alert that links to the updates that @MattOC just pointed out was sent to all recently active traders. New traders will see this reminder immediately upon signing up and I'll be reseting periodically as a reminder for all.
Thanks Todd. I guess I'll wait for it to pop up again. So, are these things mentioned on the Trading Landing page I guess you call it (you can only trade if you use the trading forum, plus other things)? Cheers!
Ok. So Todd are you saying it is not recommended to trade amongst friends via beer mail, and not using the Trade Forum? Can't really find something about this in the rules. Or is this part of what you mention here: "and trading in threads outside of the trading forums is not allowed and may result in actions against your account." Cheers!
(Just tweaked it a bit too.) And example would be: don't ask if anyone wants to trade in say a brewery update thread in a regional forum or a new beer release thread.
Awesome, thanks. Just was not 100% sure, since a trade forum was created. Thanks for all your help. Cheers!
What's the rationale behind this? So long as both parties are verified traders and open an official trade, what's the harm in asking for a trade in such threads? I always thought floating trade ideas in regional threads would be a good idea because you're targeting the audience that is mostly likely to have your ISO.
Because when we didn't have this long-standing rule, threads outside of trading were flooded with people looking to trade versus being focused on the actual topic of the thread.
I see, that makes sense. It's too bad because if people were judicious about it, this would be a helpful way to look for trades.
You can still participate in those threads and send PM’s to people who may have your ISO to see if they’d be interested in working out a trade. Just not spamming the actual thread looking for trades, that would be quite annoying.
