Picked some up today at Meijer in Howell, bottled 1/4. Well done on the freshness, Bells. Can’t wait for 5pm.

You can “snorkel” a bottle by using a bendy straw. Same thing as a shotgun.

Or go hi-tech with a snorkel device:

You know, I've never tried that before. I'll add that to the agenda.

Ah good old Hype Slam, I enjoy it but never found it to be too special. Last year it collected dust and I ended up scoring some in the regular mix a six section so it would benefit them to lower the price a bit. It does fall off quickly but it's still enjoyable to me when it does.

At this point it would be smart for breweries to can just the camping/pool beers and go back to bottles for the rest until this levels out a bit. I am also worried about the environmental impact, as many places have stopped recycling glass (although the tide may shift again since demand many be going up).

That's plausible for large breweries that happen to have both a canning and a bottling line but many small to mid-sized breweries don't have bottling lines. And even large breweries that do have bottling lines still have to deal with logistical issues like having the proper labels, bottle caps, and six pack holders for beers they had previously planned to can.

Do you have an detailed understanding of what they do (or did) with the glass bottles I throw into my recycling container? I have read (in the past) that these bottles were rarely used to produce new glass but instead used to produce some sort of aggregate/fill product for construction purposes. Any additional insight you can provide here is appreciated.

On the general topic of recycling I have read articles in the Philadelphia Inquirer that in our area much of the materials thrown into residential recycling containers get shipped to trash to steam plants (e.g, the ones in Conshohocken and Chester).

    Cheers!

Unfortunately recent information I have seen says that it was more expensive for them to sort the glass out so it was being compiled and then incinerated with the regular trash. But yes any glass that does make it to recycling can be used for another glass product or be made into things like fiberglass.

Unfortunately this is correct and still the case. The cost of all of this is more expensive than to just toss it and consumers use new product. Yet another broken system in our country and we pale in comparison to parts of Europe.

The can shortage is goes hand-in-hand with the national "coin shortage". :unamused:

I like 12 Oz better for beers over 8%, the bomber would be great to split, but as always it’s only me.

No need for that. The double ‘I’ is for Imperial India. What would the third I stand for? At 10% it’s still an IIPA, or double IPA.

Looking forward to Hop Slam this year, kinda neglected it over the past few years but preferring the non-hazy IPAs as of late.

All their caps are great. The Polaroid camera on Lampshade Ale is hilarious.
