The goal is to have it run long enough to have everyone on their knees begging for MERCY by the time it's over. 05/2/21-07/2/21 or NOTHING.

Don’t we want to do the barleywine tasting before extreme beer fest weekend? So excited to see all the barleywines!

If anyone has an issue with the date, please voice your opinion. I'm trying to find a good balance here. Some people find it too soon, some people don't want it to overlap the EBF event, so I'm in a bit of a pickle. Hoping to get as many opinions ad i can to calculate what will work best for the majority of people here.

How about 01/29,30,31? Still gives folks plenty of time to find the beers they want to taste.

The only date I didn't like was this coming weekend.

Since Half Time would not ship to MN (Tavour figured it out... :slight_frown:), or do an early shipment to another BA so it could then be shipped to me, (or even respond to my email), --- yeah, I'm whining --- I have no conflict with EBF. I wish I did. :worried:

Seems like the question is: Does EBF present more of a conflict or does “dry January?” Neither is a conflict for me. You can make it a poll in the prep thread with the downside of drawing it all out... but on a beer website I’m gonna guess that a beer fest is a greater conflict than ritualistic abstaining.

I'm just the bloke putting this together - I want everyone to have a say here and make sure majority is happy with the date. @FBarber would the pre-thread/planning thread just go up in Beer Talk? Figure I can put a post up, going over everything, and maybe include a poll for people to select which date would work best. Seems like the most democratic solution.

Those dates sound good to me, but I am not doing the EBF event.

Either date works for me, I'm not doing the feat or a sober month. If you wanna poll folks I'd recommend having the polling done by Sunday so we have 2ish weeks to gather provisions.

Wookie Jack has me considering a Firestone order and since you've got to break $100 to get free shipping I figured I'd round out the order with sucaba and some.other Firestone ba delights

quads definitely need a tasting. Sours is a very broad category now, maybe narrow it down a little bit.

Thread can go up in the beer talk once you're ready, but lets keep the date discussion in this one. You're gonna have to make a call based on the feedback you get here - It will never be perfect, just do the best you can. I'd give a few days for people to respond and then make a decision this weekend.

Oh, sorry - I thought you meant to post a planning thread a couple of weeks before the actual tasting. I must have misunderstood your comment. Yeah, either way, there will be people that would have rather had it on a different day. Unfortunately, that's unavoidable, so I'm hoping to just base it off the feedback, and whatever the majority of people prefer will be what I decide to go with.

    SO... PEOPLE...

Who's in for having the barleywine tasting on the 5th through 7th of February, which will overlap with the virtual Extreme Beer Fest event

and who's in for having it the 29th -31st of January, which, if you're doing dry January, then I really don't know what to say, except sorry for showing off all of these delicious barleywines in front of you.

If I don't get adequate feedback, then I'll make a decision myself, but I encourage everyone to share which dates you prefer. Aaannnndd....GO!

I’ve got a bunch of barleywines I need an excuse to open, so definitely don’t want the tasting to be the same weekend as the BA virtual fest. They’re big beers often in large formats. I won’t have the time or liver space to open them all. My 2¢.

29-31 is my vote. And if you guys conspire to steal this from me then my followers are storming @SierraNevallagash 's house. To share barley wine, lambic, and charcuterie with him

Those numbers are fraudulent. I demand a recount. Too many votes from beyond the grave.

We can meet at The Four Seasons to discuss.

Can I just say, it's been a weird couple years, so much drama, so much anger, so much confusion. That press conference has to be the weirdest thing I've ever seen in American (I'm including the entire hemisphere here) politics in my life. Its like a weird Mad TV skit or something. I'll be premiering my 742 page thesis on the topic after barleywine #7 on the appointed weekend, stay tuned

If I must end dry January a few days early to imbibe in barleywine fueled debauchery, that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

28 days is good enough. #BIL

Count me in for 29-31 of January. Id prefer to focus on barleywines for the weekend and not only cross reference from EBF box. this way I can open a few cellared gems too!
And if we lose add me to your army @unlikelyspiderperson ! raiding Maine will be fun, we can stop at Barreled Souls for my bottles to help fuel the troops to storm the ramparts of Fortress @SierraNevallagash !!!
