[IMG] [IMG] So, I couldn’t resist the urge to purchase some of this malt. They only sell in 10# increments for now so it was costly to get a bag. Side note- I messaged with someone who works there on Reddit and they are in the process of switching platforms to sell in smaller increments. They reason for this post though is I don’t want to waste this malt so I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with it and a good recipe to go with it? I’d like to do a stout for sure and a brown ale. Eventually I’d like to same some for a Dunkel. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know if this Reddit post was by someone is associated with Sugar Creek (doubtful), but they linked to an imgur pic of Indiana Flyer that has an imperial stout recipe they were pleased with > > Indiana Flyer

The post said they used 1 lb of the chocolate in the mash and 1 lb at vorlauf, but the pic of the recipe says the last pound was whirlpool ? ? ?

Ya I’m excited to get them. I may get a little and heat up some water to mash temps and soak them and see what they taste like

@JackHorzempa That Reddit poster does actually work at Sugar Creek. He posts regularly re: their malt/processes/etc.

There are also coffeys that are made from beans stored in used bourbon/whiskey barrels. I have had some from a roaster in Indy, so not far from Sugar Creek Malting.
