Well, I was on the fence but couldn't help myself when I encountered it in the wild. It helped that I missed wookie jack and haven't been able to get SN stout lately so I was/am all ginned up for some hoppy dark beers. 16.99 at a random liquor store in socal

16.99 in Mass. I bought one 6 pack. But the price will probably keep me from buying more

It was in TW that I saw it in Greensboro, should have bought a single. I was looking for other stuff so I passed.

Found for $14 here in WI. Never had this beer "back in the day" but I love the style and this doesn't disappoint. Will probably grab another sixer. Good stuff and glad I saw this thread otherwise I would've walked right past it as I usually do everything else in the Stone section.

Bought some from TW in Socal for 14.99. Tasting as good as I remember it. Definitely will be buying more of this. First time buying Stone in a while.

Ya definite reminder of why I miss the style. Nice balance of roasty, toasty, fruity, and pithy/piny. Reminds me of an overyl verbose description of some rare.coffee

Bruh, d'ya even do Papua New Guinean pourovers or 2 day Ethiopian cold brews to coax out them subtle blueberry waffle notes? :stuck_out_tongue:

Now if I can just convince my wife and boss that I'm drinking black ipas in the morning for the FLAVOR!

Ha, as a former coffee geek I can say that beer reviews are WAY worse than coffee reviews.

But your joke here is spot on...

Would love to see prices closer to that stateside. A bottle runs about $6 where I live and they are always old and dusty. Have seen 0 cans yet.

Still love coffee, I'm just not as obsessive as I used to be.

I used to buy locally roasted beans <2 weeks old and use a Bonavita, pour overs, Aeropress, had a really nice grinder(s)...etc.

I fell out of most of that and just buy whatever these days. I still enjoy a nice cup of joe from a local shop or five every weekend though. Especially during the pandemic, have to support the little guy.

This might have been mentioned already but is this meant to be a winter seasonal release or a year round for 2021?

For 2021, limited to Jan and Feb as per their calendar. Whether it becomes a yearly seasonal or anything else will likely depend on the sales of this release if I had to guess.

Picked up a six pack over the weekend and drank the first bottle. Still tasty.

$17 a sixer, but that's the same a $15 4-pack of pint cans. That beats the pricing for most local breweries' pricing on DIPAs, so no complaints from me.

I skipped two pages of responses so I apologize if this is redundant. I am a black ipa fan. I recall Mitch Steele say in a podcast that the black ipa faded out because it doesn’t fit anyone’s go to beer. I just bought a 6 pack from Trader Joe’s for $14.99, which is a great deal. I see where Mitch is coming from. Up front it is all ipa but mid palate I get coffeee, and chocolate like a good stout but then finishes dry and fairly bitter.

I can see how it doesn’t fit the ipa consumer and doesn’t fit the stout consumer. I see a lot of stout consumers say they hate ipas and ipa consumers say that don’t like stouts. So this sits in between. You need both an ipa and stout fan, which is me. I love the style and this hits the mark so hard! I am surprised by how hoppy the beer is but still has stout qualities. For $15 a six pack I was thinking 1 is good but after Drinking it, it really is a good beer at a good price. I mean I drink founders breakfast stout that is $12 for a four pack.

based on untapped I haven’t had the beer since 2014 and I don’t recall any specific tasting notes. Glad I still like the beer and glad but it again. Cheers.

    cheers.

@GetMeAnIPA , I'm finishing up my last of my sixer and I think you pretty well nailed it. It hits a lot of buttons for me but I can totally see how this one kind of falls between the cracks for other people. I've also.been known to enjoy a coffee IPA from time to time as well and I suspect there's a good bit of crossover between appreciators of these two styles.

Finally showed up in central IA, 16.99/6 pack. Not complaining about that price since most of the local stuff I buy is $14-20 for 4-pack pints. Makes stone seem like a value buy.

I picked up a 6pack yesterday. Wow, I have only had it once before back in 2007. Still a good one.

One local brewer has a Black IPA planned..
