Everything that I've had from Fidens has been absolutely insane.

Did anyone go to the first can release? Apparently people were lined up in their cars?

I didn't go, but had a buddy go. He said he got there at 8:30am, and he was third in line. When he left shortly after 10, he couldn't see the end of the line from the front. Worth noting that apparently its all in-car, curbside pickup just like Troon was during the heart of the pandemic.

I was in the area on Satturday and had plans to go later that afternoon after some errands, but they sold out much earlier than I anticipated, my alternative was to make my way over to one of the local beverage spots to pick up some fresh Torque Wrench & a 6'er of Hopslam

they had a solid turnout ..some estimates had 100 cars plus at the time of opening

Wow, that sounds like how Mortalis does their releases. I know Fiden's is new hotness, but that's pretty wild that people are lining up for hops when there are so many good alternatives.

the lack of breweries in the Capital Region has the beer lovers there starving for good beer..they aren't as lucky as us city folk

LOL, there is no "lack" of breweries in the Capital Region. Albany proper has three, Schenectady has four, Saratoga four, Delmar two, Clifton Park one, Malta one, Stillwater one, Troy two, Cohoes two. That's 20 all within a 30-minute drive of me.

And that's not even counting the three in Glens Falls, one in Rensselaer, one in Glenville, one in Schuylerville, one in Greenwich, one in Fort Ann, one in Fort Edward, or any of the other tertiary Capital Region spots.

Fiden's is the hottest because they do 95% hazies and they do them extremely well, but the Capital Region scene is absolutely flourishing on the whole.

This is where I'm at. I tried to go to the release last Saturday, saw the line of cars and just left. Love Fiden's, been going since opening weekend, but I'm not sitting in a car for an hour when I can drive to Westmere and easily scoop EQ/OH/Grimm/HV or any number of incredible IPAs literally any day of the week. We are the most spoiled region in the country.

you're right..there are a bunch of breweries in the area, but most are ho-hum or subpar..I've been to a few myself and nothing really stood out

Fidens is on Par with Treehouse now in terms of quality and hype now. Their NEIPAs are great.

Albany is probably the best place to get beer in the country. With Fidens locally and some places like Unified, Frog Alley, Mean Max. Local beverage stores that have EQ/OH/Fiddle etc...

Proximity to TH, HF, Trillium, OH, Alchemist. I doubt there is another place in the country that can compete.

Can we Stop putting EQ in the same sentences as HV, TH,HF Trill? Its embarrassing.

    A) He quite literally didn't put EQ in the same sentence as any of the breweries you mentioned. He put them in the same sentence as OH and Fiddlehead.

    B) FOH anyhow acting like it's some sacrilege to mention them with those other breweries. EQ is one of the most well-regarded hop slingers in the Northeast, whether you personally like their shit or not.

    C) Embarrassing to who?

Been saying this for a while now but Albany absolutely has the best distro in the whole country.

Between kegs/cans, we regularly get Hill, Suarez, OH, HV, Grimm, Finback, Fiddlehead, Lawsons, Alchemist, Foam, Beer Tree, 3 Floyds, Toppling Goliath, Maine, Schilling, Oxbow, Drowned Lands, District 9, Jacks Abby, Frost, Prairie, Omnipollo, Aslin, Bearded Iris, Old Nation, I could keep going for a while.

And we get random shipments of stuff like Modern Times, El Segundo, Casa Agria, Burley Oak, J. Wakefield, Battery Steele, Hubbard's Cave, etc. Just started getting Tripping Animals in the area. Who knows what this week will bring.

Most well regarded for what reason? They are good at their social media game and collab with the "popular" breweries. Anyone who regularly drinks HF/TH/Alchemist knows just how bad EQ is. They are gimmicky and need to dump tons of crap into each beer to hide all of their imperfections.

Because they make IPAs, sours and stouts that people love? Not a difficult concept.

Love the anecdotal "evidence" like you're running hyper-specific focus groups cross-referencing EQ drinkers with HF/TH/Alchemist drinkers (or like those are mutually exclusive groups in the first place) to make statements like that.

You don't like EQ, cool, that's your taste. But telling somebody "it's embarrassing to group brewery a with brewery b" is neckbeard trash.
