Edmund’s Oast Rum Barrel-Aged The Abider from the barleywine tasting thread.

Some chocolate, vanilla, plum, looking for the coffee, not that this beer needed another flavor. Lots of rum in the nose and the flavor. The 9%ABV is not obvious. Need to be careful with this.

ps-I must admit I have not tried Nugget Nectar this year as it is coming by horse buggy from Amish country, but I will! I have to thank for that the great distributors in the state of Virginia.

I drank many a "rice beer" during a tour in S. Korea back in 69/70. It was one of their local options besides OB beer. Wasn't bad, wasn't great, but it could mess you up sometimes if you weren't careful especially since it was always made by the locals and the recipes varied, for sure.

 

Indeed! I had one myself, the strength of the one I had was like Soju, I thought the Octopus was crawling around my mouth (it literally was!). Cheers!

 

Ahhh, yes. Octopus was always available when the rice beer came out.

Up now is Expatriate, an IPA from Three Weavers. It's a proper WCIPA, with plenty of hops, some pine and citrus & tropical fruit notes. Orange, lemon & mango. Smooth & juicy. I rated it 4.01 which is spot on its BA average of 3.98.
