Looks like I'm going with Familiar Beer Weekend this afternoon - from Hopslam to Lunch. :grinning:

New-to-me music, though: black metal with hints of blackened thrash and black and roll.

So still on my "I'm behind" pattern. Enjoying a Landgang Brauerei Landgang Pils, Day 23 of the Costco Advent Calendar. Fell behind due to newborn in house and some very minor medical tests and medication treatments that required staying off the alcohol for awhile. Last one before firing up the snowblower again.

Covert Artisan Ales Upside Down Fruit Sour, 6.6% ABV. Pours hazy orange with a 1+ finger white head. Nose is strong pineapple, sweet vanilla cake, and cherry. Taste is pretty much tart pineapple and cherry. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent to outstanding-adjacent.

Interesting that a beer can smell so sweet and taste so tart. Is sweetness really a smell or is it the mind associating sweetness with the smell of things that you know taste sweet, such as vanilla cake?

Up now is a Voodoo Ranger Captain Dynamite IPA from New Belgium. This is an excellent IPA. Fruity (orange, lemon & papaya). I rated it at 4.02 which is right on its BA average of 3.99.

Drinking another Perpetual straight from the can. I think a lot of people should take the time to revisit this beer. I'm thankful. Snow keeps falling. It's nice to look at, initially. Cheers!

    Beautiful pairing!

I forget Dr. John way too often. Need to crank up some of his goodness in a couple weeks while I make a big pot of seafood gumbo.

No beer for me today, but I am enjoying a malty barley beverage:
