Deth's Tar is a great BA stout, and in the perfect size and vessel.
Here in the Plainfield/Naperville/Oswego area we said the same thing about Meijer - where's the Deth's Tar?!? Meijer charges look MUCH better on the VISA bill than Revolution or Binny's.

I know what you mean - I only have 95 cans left from this season's releases.:grimacing:

That's right about the sum total of all of my BA Rev holdings and...I think I'm gonna make it through anyway.

So maybe this is a faux pas seeing as I'm from Southern California... anybody know if Revolution stuff is available in my neck of the woods? I'm a barleywine fanatic and due to my relatively new account can't access the trade boards. If it's truly out of reach I'll just bide my time and build my karma so I can get that sweet, sweet strait jacket!

Sadly, Rev is not available in CA - they're just available in a few states:

Your best bet is going to be trading - so yea, work on that karma (review beers! - its a great way to rack up the karma points) and then post your trade request over there.

Well, I got my hand delivered 4 pack of Ryeway this weekend and there's just one problem, how do I restrain myself from drinking all of them this week? So freakin delicious.

Yes - same problem here. My solution was to purchase five 4pks, and hide them in the back of the shelf to keep my damn hands off it. (out of sight, out of mind)

Interesting tidbit in the New IL labels from the Guys Drinking Beer blog:

Looks like there might be a new Cuvée de Grâce coming down the pipeline.

They can make that happen- $75 for the bomber and just say "hold the other stuff" when you go to pick it up.

Having my first AB Ryeway now. Man, you all weren’t kidding about the viscosity. Syrupy thick out of the can but poured with a fantastic head. I know I’m in the minority, but I find this year’s regular Ryeway is a bit too much (spice and alcohol wise). I enjoy it but I much prefer SJ, but that’s just personal preference. The AB barrels completely change this beer though. Spice is more muted and alcohol more hidden in the taste (though you quickly feel it). I’m not positive I like it any more than regular, it’s just crazy how different this one is.

    2020 / 2021 Deep Woods Power Rankings.

@HouseofWortship asked for it, so @HouseofWortship gets it.

    1) Thundertaker -- I had low expectations for whatever reason, but I was blown away by this beer. Notes of fudge, oak & cream with faint spice & mild bourbon heat. An absolute delight; sadly, I couldn't control myself and I have none left. @BeerCruncher can we get some crowlers please??

    2) Straight Jacket -- I like this on the sweeter side...and to quote the Sopranos, "the gravy's good" this year.

    3) Double Barrel VSOD -- A great blend here...although I think "regular" Deth Star from 2019 was just as good!!

    4) Ryeway to Heaven -- not quite 2017 levels, but the best batch since then, in my opinion. Again...good gravy.

    5) On & On Part 1 -- creamy, chocolate-y delights here; easy to quaff but with a silky mouthfeel. I like this a lot better than my friends who've tried it, but I am adamant that this is a stunner.

    6) Cafe Deth -- best batch of "regular" Cafe Deth I've had. This is usually near the bottom of my list, as I'm not a big Dark Matter fan, but the blend was top notch this year.

    7) Honey Jacket -- it was pretty damn sweet...but as I found the original batch too boozy, I'm good with that. I bet this one will age well.

    8) Maple Deth -- really well balanced & not too Maple heavy; the mouthfeel was bit thin to me, but overall I thought this was a nice compromise compared to many Maple stouts.

    9) Mineshaft Gap -- Hypocrite alert...while I found Honey Jacket NOT too sweet, I found Mineshaft Gap a bit too sweet. Certainly enjoyable, but I won't mind if they skip this for a few more years.

    10) Apple Brandy Ryeway -- I thought the Apple Brandy smoothed the Ryeway out too much, to the point that it was pretty one note and a bit boring. Great mouthfeel, and it certainly wasn't bad, but perhaps this was a victim of super high hopes on my part.

    11) Deth's Tar -- Another victim of high hopes, perhaps; last year's Deth Star (a blend of one, two, three & four year old batches, if I remember correctly) blew me away & had me re-evaluating the beer. This year's version just tastes like regular ol' Deth Star to me, which is to say an above average barrel aged stout that I enjoy but never crave.

    12) Deth By Cherries -- A friend told me it just tastes like Cherry Coke and that ************ has been living rent free in my head ever since. Fuck that guy.

It already has. Saw it on shelves this past weekend.

Edit: Not sure where you are, but I'm near western suburbs - saw it at Leo's Liquors (Brookfield).

I’ll take a stab, but for the record they were all great.

    1) Supermassive Cafe Deth: Probably my favorite beer last year, which says a lot as a member of too many breweries and scoring a lot of the big releases last year.
    2) Thundertaker: Soooo much fudge
    3) Deth’s Tar: Definitely my favorite vintage of rev, brought back the nostalgia of trying it for the first time back in ‘13.
    4) Cafe Deth: Year in and year out, this is one of my favorite releases, and this years was as good as ever.
    5) Mineshaft Gap: This beer was magical. Sweetness from the cognac barrel melded into the caramel/butterscotch of the barleywine.
    6) Apple Brandy Ryeway: Loved the thiccc syrup like viscosity, and the Apple Brandy played very well with the Ryeway base. Had that sweet caramel flavor remincent of the ‘17 Ryeway batch, and it paired perfectly with the barrel.
    7) Deth by Cherries: Really liked this vintage. Bourbon cherry coke with better body and mouthfeel.
    8) On & On Part 1: Smooth and creamy, while letting the barrel shine
    9) DB VSOD: Charred oak when cold, leather/tobacco/vanilla as it warms. Very complex, and doesn’t taste like a 17% beer.
10Ryeway to Heaven: A solid vintage as always
    11) Honey Jacket: Much like AB Ryeway, I loved the thickness of this. Lots of honey, which I really enjoyed
    12) Straight Jacket: Again like many of the staples, this beer was as good as ever, which just speaks to quality of the barrel program at Rev.
    13) Maple Deth: A little maple goes a long way, and it was true with this beer. Much like vanilla deth, the barrel is still the star of this beer
    14) Mixed Berry Ryeway: Admittedly, I haven’t had since the summer, but I recall it being a very refreshing beer as a summer sipper.

Shocked that all of these rankings have Deth by Cherries either in the middle or low down. It's a top 3 DW release for me this year and one of my beers of the year.
