Came across this article showing some very interesting statistics on the big market brewers. It's mind blowing how much their sales have decreased over the past few years. They seem to talk more about the light beer market taking a part of the market but pay only a little attention to craft brews. Nevertheless, still an interesting read.

Nice to see Michelob dying off. Absolute garbage, waste of shelf space.

Of course, they do sell 3.5 million barrels of Michelob Ultra a year...(the 12th largest selling beer in the US)

"Gone" from certain US markets, apparently, but it's still imported by A-B's "Import Brands Alliance" subsidiary, and easily found in the Northeast. For example, here's a rebate offer from just a few months back for it (and two "domestic" beers from the same outfit).

I was hoping you'd recently tried nine beers from your cellar and were warning others to drink them ASAP.

They will kill Becks just like the did Löwenbräu. Back in the day, I used to treat myself to a 6-pack of either LB, Special Export or Augsburger. At least in my memory these were all very tasty brews.

The article mentions craft and specialty beers as part of the cause, but seem to attribute MOST of the decline to an increase in consumers of light swill, oh, I meant beer!
