The brewery up the way from me does 16 oz "crowlers". Its kind of pointless for regular beers, but I always thought it could be a great idea for the high ABV stuff like the Rev releases.

    I think a 20-24oz crowlers is called a HalfFawkes.

Yo @BeerCruncher that baphomet artwork should grace a Willi Becher.

Here's my thought on the format debate: I opened my DB Destroyed by the Empire tonight, and I wouldn't want any less than a 32 oz crowler, because that would mean I had less than 32 ounces of it.

I'm looking forward to trying to finish that off tomorrow night in conjunction with the Extreme Beer Fest tasting. Don't blame me if I start a podcast; I'll be sure to have @GuyFawkes as a special guest on the first episode.

I wasn't ahead enough on that one and it will only be around for a short time. Damn it's good though...

On & On’s head is smooth and silky like a nitro pour, anyone else agree?

I described DB Destroyed by the Empire as “ it’s like chewing on whiskey barrel wood while someone across the room pours a stout.”

later - Cherry in the front, vanilla in the back

now - “hmmm, the BA Super ISLBS sure is refreshing”

Nelson Hero is solid. Almost like a creamy Vallejo.

    I'd agree with that assessment.

I finally opened AB Ryeway and On & On this weekend. Both beers poured differently than the rest of the Deep Woods that came before. They looked like a flat thick syrup coming out of the can, but then the carbonation released from solution and created a silky thick foam.

Any rumors/idea on when part 2 of of the Rev/Half Acre collab is coming? Or anyone know what it will be?

    Its a barrel aged barleywine.

Not sure when it will be released - the last I heard was just that it would be released "later in 2021".

Okay - next time @CaptainFleeker asks for info already discussed, he will be LieutenantFleeker.
We also know Part 2 is aged in Willett bourbon barrels, just like part 1.

*Has anyone seen a major difference in bourbon barrels affecting a beer or maybe have a preference? The three barrel "variants" of regular BCBS this year had everyone searching for them, and then discussing the differences between them. But I have not seen other large discussions of which is better among Weller, Buffalo Trace, Willett, etc...

Wouldn't this be like discussing which is better between pistachio ice cream, cherry ice cream and vanilla ice cream?

    Which two?

Generally, I think its tough to do a straight comparison of two barrels (i.e. Willett vs. Four Roses, etc.) as the quality of the base beer is just as important, leaving a beer in barrels too long or not enough, etc. Although BCBS allowed us to do that with the Easter egg beers. That said, growing up in Michigan I was in awe with Bell's BA Batch 9000 (Heaven Hill barrels) and Kuhnhenn's barrel program (heavily used Heaven Hill barrels). That was my intro into BA beers. So I chased a lot of Heaven Hill barreled beer for a long time. I also liked Cigar City's BA beers for a long time (~2011-2017) and a lot of those beers were aged in Four Roses barrels. So I do tend to be more open minded to try beers aged in those distilleries' barrels. I don't think the premium barrels automatically make a BA beer great. I've had several Pappy BA beers I was disappointed in.

With so many recent Weller BA beers, I feel like I can taste that profile in the beer. But I can neither articulate what that is nor rule out that knowledge influencing what I taste.
