Short's Brewing (2021)

It's been so disappointing with the way things keep falling off the release schedule over the last few months. While we did get some spruce which I appreciated, I was looking forward to many of the ones that fell off. I was buying

Must be hard to get depending on the store. Holiday Market in Royal Oak had a huge stack on the floor. Kinda surprised. Bell’s Black Hearted was actually tough to get and sold out in a couple hours.

 

Just grabbed some 12,000 in Suttons Bay, looking forward to trying it in a bit during some snow fun. Finally have some decent snow!

Want to give a shout out to Splurge too, this one really grew on me. A lot of DIPA's have a hard time letting the hops shine through the extra sweetness due to ABV, but not this one. Super duper hoppy dankness, love it.

Had a Bourbon Cup a Joe a couple weeks ago and have to say this one has me scratching my head. Flavors were there but nowhere near the thickness and bourbon deliciousness I was hoping for.

This is the first bourbon barrel beer I can remember where the bourbon version has a lower ABV than the original. Very curious of what is going on here. If I were to guess they had several barrels go bad and tried to salvage the release by blending with something else but pure conjecture on my part. Would be awesome to see the original re-released this year, one of my favorites!

 

So is the EBF version of Super Delicious Stout actually gonna make distro? Seems like no. Shorts Mart does have it listed, but for sale by the single 12 oz. bottle, which makes me think they have very little of it to go around.

 

Any number of people in Michigan named Morrison and | or Doors' fans.

 

I will be honest, I only recently made The Doors connection (to arguably their weakest album).

 

There is no argument. Soft Parade is CLEARLY the worst Doors album!

 

Just went to review their discography. As long as you are not counting the albums without Morrison, Soft Parade is the bottom of the list by far.

This raises the question: Did Shorts call the beer Soft Parade, knowing it was then the weakest beer in their portfolio?

 

Say what you want about the album. But Soft Parade the song is fantastic.

I don't know what the numbers are today, but back in 2014 Soft Parade was Short's best selling beer.

The Soft Parade reference dates back to when Joe worked at Traverse Brewing Company and the owner Jack used to play the album at the end of the brew day.

Surprised and disappointed that they are doing Sabrotage again so soon. Cool that Big Bird Blood and Tiramisu Blonde are finally getting released.

 

Excited to see Treefer coming back again.

Saw label approval today for Lil' Sticky, that could be great this summer.
