That good huh? Im pretty sure Im seeing the BB4D and maybe some others. Why is it so expensive? Also I can make it to warren. Is it cheaper there?

At the brewery the BA4D and BBBW were $7. There might still be some BA4D hanging around, but I don't think there's any more BBBW left.

Probably. Ill have to look again. I just saw Kuhnhenns and was curious because I hadn't seen it in bottles before and then saw the price and was a bit taken aback lol.

I may have to take a picture. They had 4d, but it didn't say Barrel Aged, but it did say winter solstice. The also had 9 and maybe penetration. They had like 5 different ones. All were in single 12 oz bottles, none said barrel aged. Bottles ranged from a bout 5 a piece to maybe 7 or 8. I guess it was somewhere else I saw the 10 dollar bottle.

Still worth a shot or should I just make the trip down to warren and get a growler of something

4D was released at the Winter Solstice along with the BB4D...the difference in labeling is that the BB has a little gold emblem on the label indicating as such (and may also have a piece of gold foil over the cap).

Penetration? I don't think that was bottled (assuming you're referring to their porter). I'd imagine what you saw was the Prometheus which did make it out to distro.

Might be worth taking the trip to Warren and seeing what they have. Don't expect anything crazy by way of growler fills, but they'll likely have BB4D bottles and a lot of the meads that they've been releasing for the past 3 weeks.

    Add Prometheus to that list.

    Prometheus, yes that was it

That's what they had there as well, those were the others I couldn't remember.

So pretty standard fare and nothing I need to fall all over myself about, but you all still think its worth a try then? I've never had any Kuhnhenns, I had planned on checking out the Brewery sometime.

being that kuhnhenn makes it to less than a handful of states (i think just MI and NY actually?) that doesn't mean you need to fall all over yourself about them, but i'd certainly pick up 1 of each to get a taste as they aren't all that easy to come by. i wasn't wild about the 9, but dug the braggot (interesting style...top one scored less than a 4 to give you an idea on the accessibility of the style). 4D and the Dark Heathen I have had before and love, but still picked up some more since i really love those beers. i'll hopefully get another few bottles of these while they are around, but they are pretty pricey (although the ABV justifies the price in my opinion).

as for trade bait, i think kuhnhenn is pretty good, but there aren't many out there directly looking for them aside from BB4D and BBBW...the non barrel aged brews trade well, but just aren't as sought after. kuhnhenn makes amazing extras for a box to a trading partner you like.

None of the stuff Kuhnhenn distributes is "standard fare". Michigan and New York are the only two states Kuhnhenn gets distributed to. Even in Michigan all of those beers sell very quickly at the very few stores that get them. Kuhnhenn really doesn't distribute any of their "standard fare" such as Loonie Kuhnie and DRIPA. If you are truly interested in trying Kuhnhenn go ahead and grab the regular 4D. It is a GREAT beer.

I guess standard fare wasn't the correct term, but I was just merely stating that it wasn't something I need buy as soon as I see it because its something super rare.

It doesnt even make it to the West side of Michigan. To my knowledge its pretty much just distributed to the very south east side of the state around D-Town
