    So in.

I’m lousy at the hints and shit the threads, they moves so fast.

I usually send beer styles I don’t personally drink so feedback is maybe more important to me than most, I’m really limited to what I drink. Send a pm if it’s shit no offense taken, I’ll replace it. If it sucks I want to know it so I won’t repeat that and send another out to someone else, if you like it even better that’s the goal.

Now might be a good time to mention for newcomers or those that haven't been in for a few rounds to share their Untappd profiles(if you use it) here as this BIF is geared towards finding new brews for targets. Following now makes the guessing game less obvious than if you follow your target right after pairings are sent out. I was a user there before I was a BA, and others may be in the same boat. Mine can be found in my profile.

Just a minor reminder...If you are tagging people (new to this party) to tempt them into joining in our little slice of chaos, make sure they understand all of the initial post.

And, IMHO at least, if one tags a new participant, and they sign up, we'll take that as a sign that you are vouching for that person. Which, if the tagee flakes out, the tagger will make good on.

Invite folks! Just, make sure everyone has eyes open.

And taggers and tagees should be careful with all the peninsulas dangling!

Gotta tell you . . . I don't. We ended up being there just a little over a year and a half before leaving last March when Covid started. I don't know if I ended up there too late in life, or without enough money to make it more fun, but I found daily life to be kind of a grind. Don't get me wrong, we had some great times, especially food and music wise, but, really, I'm a California kid at heart. I like driving in wide open spaces, year-round sun, good coffee (never found CA-level coffee in NYC), and fresh, whole food. I never, ever found produce in NYC that held a candle to what you could find every goddamn day in, well, any California city. Sigh.

The key is to try and send beers from breweries that are local or localish to you. The reason i say this is, I stopped sending Cigar City core beers in BIF boxes because they now ship almost everywhere. Same for Funky Buddha. But I know that my favorite local Ellipsis doesn't even distro locally. So I know my target most likely will have never had it. So keep that in mind. As far styles go.. If you are sending something that you don't like or don't normally drink. Look it up on untapped if its a 3.5 or above then send it. Good luck... and destroy a porch!!

    BiggeneD on untapped.

It’s why I use my beer guy, he knows every beer on the shelf, I tell him what I want where it's going and he goes and grabs a can. Distro can be tricky, I often send out some beers from WW Funkitorium depends on what’s new. I know they expanded their footprint into NY maybe Co, not sure, but I try and find locals with small footprints. I’m not on untapped, probably should it’ll make it easier to look at beers.

I always thought NYC (or Boston or Miami or even Providence) would be a great city to live in as a young, single person - of which I am neither. There's a lot to do, and it's easy to get around if you live in the city, but it's not my speed - and the drawbacks aren't worth it. Big cities are still fun to visit for a day trip, but that's enough for me.

All that said, I still wouldn't rule out living in Miami again someday, partly out of proximity to my kids, and partly out of job opportunity ... but as my hometown, it gets a bit of a pass.

We need to get some beer moving around the country. To that end, I'll start us off with a truly stupid LIF (Lottery it Forward). My home office is a bit like a mullet. Business on camera, party off camera. In other words, what my co-workers can see when I'm on Zoom is neutral / professional. Off camera (and much to my wife's chagrin), I have all sorts of random crap. Your goal for this LIF is to guess which of the following items is not in my office. Each person (must be a confirmed BIF participant) gets one guess. First person to get it right will receive some beer from me, and then hopefully kick off another LIF of their own. Guessing closes Saturday at midnight PST. If nobody has guessed it by then, I'll pick a random name from among those who made a guess.

Here are your choices (and this is way more of a window into my life than I should probably ever provide...don't judge me!)........
