I cooked for 20yrs finished my career at a high end place in Vegas. I make more money now than I ever did cooking. I could possibly come up with something in 20 minutes.

If you'd like to, that'd be great. But absolutely no rush. If you want to , you name what you'd like from out my way...especially if you are interested in big Bruery or Bottle Logic items (I have cellar issues)-

You bring up some good points. We get a lot o'hate out here in California (some is very deserved, but most is not), but we ARE the agricultural state as much, if not more, than Hollywood, media, tech, etc... And we were early adopters in the Beer Revolution!

I don't know what I love more, this LIF idea or your description of your (my office) as "My home office is a bit like a mullet. Business on camera, party off camera."

My guess is the U2 Joshua Tree LP.

Central Cali would be in the top end of economies in the world in and by itself. It feeds millions. Unfortunately the wackos in SF and Hollywood dominate the news, but Orange Co is conservative. I was in 29 Palms a year and hated it, if I had a do over I would have headed for the Denver suburbs. Evergreen, perhaps.

I am alarmed at the number of things on this list that I have in my tv room ... (my "home office" is just an unheated part of the unfinished basement)

Geographical historical map of NH, you live in Ct. what would you care about NH history?

The Mr Potato Head Phillies is too dumb not to be true, kids would love it.

Nope....he's glaring at me from the top of one of the bookshelves as I type this!
Good guess, and as of a few days ago it would have been correct, but my desk is in some serious need of some cleaning. I haven't gotten to the actual cleaning part yet, but I made it as far as bringing some wipes into the room.
Very good guess, but also wrong. It's the only LP in the room, and I'm honestly not even sure why it's in here.
    Nope.
Another good guess, but also incorrect. I spend a good amount of time in the warmer months up in the NH Lakes Region (and have since I was a kid attending summer camp many, many moons ago).

I am going to say First edition copy of Salem's Lot
As that is worth about $17k and only if it is in fact the real first edition with the original price of $8.95.
It is really the only thing on that list that seems out of place.

Good research / guess, but not the item I was looking for.
From what I learned on the old internet (see below) there are three different dust jackets, all of which are considered first editions. For what it's worth, the one I have is the 2nd version with the Father Cody mistake. No idea what it's worth as it's certainly not in "new" condition. I bought it for $1 at a library book sale maybe 15-20 years ago.

    From the internet machine....
This 1st printing (stated on copyright page) book's dustjacket had 3 issues: the 1st rumored to be only 25 copies priced at $8.95, all kept in-house by Doubleday and never published with the book. This is the 2nd issue dustjacket - very scarce because of the Father Cody mistake on the front flap (later corrected in the 3rd issue to Father Callahan) that was price clipped by Doubleday and repriced at $7.95 printed beside the publisher clip. The book has the required (to be a real 1st printing) Q37 code at the lower end of the gutter of the last text page

If it is basically a correct old guess, doesn't that just mean I get cellared beer? :stuck_out_tongue:

Honestly, it's a tough list (and therefore great for a LIF!), because both the mundane and the arcane seem to fit. I went with the wipes because, while they seem like an obvious choice during the Covid era, they aren't for a home office, so I was hoping for some misdirection on your part.

    Damn it...

No research needed. My father in law was a rare book collector and Knew Stephen king. When he died my MIL sold his collection for a pretty penny. For some reason the pre price change was his holy grail. I remember him going on and on about when we would be in his library having a drink. (I did google current price).

Wells, since I don't know what it is, and since my first guess (Joshua Tree) was taken and wrong, I'ma roll with the Yoshi dude/dudette.
