Via DC Beer's Instagram, Dovetail is now shipping to DC. Awesome lagers from Chicago, but not sure I want to pay those UPS costs.

When its on, Lost Weekend is one of my favorite beers - I tend to find some batch to batch inconsistencies though

FWIW, my half case (4 pack Dunkel, 4 pack Pils, mixed 4) was just about 60 all in. Not too bad, especially with the expected upcharge for the convenient single cans, and the whole delivered directly to my door thing. Really excited to try

Not sure what inventory is left* but Anxo got some Fox Farm and some other stuff from New England. Personal recommendations for Idle Hands and Honest Weight. https://store.anxodc.com/imports

*I did not purchase anything. I am likely to go to these three breweries at some point this year. Not looking to go to DC for beer during a pandemic unless it's direct from a brewery.

They’ll also soon be shipping to VA.

I tried two 4 packs of pilsner and one 4 pack of lager and it was over $70 including shipping + their $5 handling fee + a few bucks tip. Let us know how the beers are, because those are steep prices for lagers IMO.

I am a big fan of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, so much so that I practically look for it in every beer store I go to (in any state, I go to).

My question is: Given people experiences with beer movement in stores, where can I get the freshest sierra nevada pale ale bottles to purchase in the Washington metro area (or reasonably close, such as for example State Line Liquors in Maryland).

    Thanks in advance.

I usually find pretty fresh SNPA at my local grocery store, they seem to have a higher turnover for beers like that vs. somewhere like TW or bottle shops where many people are looking for beers that they can't get at their grocery or convenient store. I'm a huge SNPA fan myself, if I had to pick one beer for the rest of my life this would be it for sure.

Trader Joe's usually has it pretty fresh. Do they still brew it in NC?

I did not think of Trader’s Joe, as it is not my go to grocery store (I usually do Giant & Safeway). Thanks. As far as I know they do brew them in NC.

Thanks! I’ll have to check out the grocery stores where a lot of people shop, as I tend to go to the ones where not too many people go to (yes they are a few I am aware of because of COVID, usually get fruits and vegetables that look fresh, but don’t touch the meat because I don’t think those would move as fast).

I've found it fresh in Safeway, but you have to time it right because it can sit awhile too.

Yes, most, if not all, of what we get is from NC. The packaging date will have an 'M' for Mills River just after it, I believe the CA brewed SN products have a 'C' for Chico/CA.

Thanks, I’ll have to check out other Safeways that I have not normally gone to during the last year.

Sorry to be rehashing a non hyped beer, but went to a Safeway, then a Giant, and then a Traders Joe, all had the same dates for SNPA as TW (3 months out). Quite a bummer, but I’ll keep hunting. Cheers!

I hear ya. I lived in Northern California in the 80s, and SN was the first truly good beer I had. I had been a wine drinker, but switched more to beer after that.

I wanted to correct this, Traders Joe in Clarendon did not have SNPA :grimacing: , they did have Hazy Little Thing...

I had been a wine drinker myself, occasionally having a beer. Then I went on a trip to San Francisco, where I had it on tap, and that changed my preferences.

Clarendon isn't really a SNPA crowd. Too many youths.
