A few short years ago you could buy SN Nooner Pilsner, the summer seasonal Summerfest,...

There seems to be other breweries willing to brew lagers (with new brands on my local beer retailers' shelves it seems like everyday) but of late Sierra Nevada has made the business decision to nix lager brands.

    Cheers!

The article says there will be 2021 release details so I’m holding out hope it miraculously comes out soon!

Wanderland came out in December of 2020, so this bock might be coming out in December of 2021... or maybe my guess is wrong and it’s for this spring and it’s right around the corner.

I was thinking most Mai Bocks are pale Bocks aren't they, and Bocks in general?

    Yes.
    Not sure what you're asking.

Maibock is not a "Traditional" Bock, if that's what you're asking.

Yes, it's a seasonal lager release. Nothing year round for some reason. I think SN do lagers well.

Yeah I find it hard to believe it comes out within the next couple months. I sure wish it would. I’m going to miss Summerfest.

Permit me to 'tweak' that second sentence to:

I think SN did lagers well.

    Cheers!

I hate the decision personally...I've always enjoyed their lager offerings... here's hoping they will drop out of the damn hazy game and give us a Helles or the Vienna that I mentioned...and Summerfest going away was like a knife in the back...

While I agreed with you when I read this, I thought, “Hmm, how many are actually in their portfolio still?

    Oktoberfest - fall seasonal

Southern Gothic - CA release only? I know I don’t see it in Boston.

I do have to say I really like the design on the Summer Break cans...so there’s that.

I saw Southern Gothic once at a restaurant in Washington, DC, so it’s likely brewed in Asheville. The name lends itself to Baltimore, too.

Completely agree. Also better during Spring, rather than during the deep freeze of Winter 2021.

We don't get Southern Gothic out here. I thought this year's Octoberfest was a disappointment. I see regional craft breweries adding lagers to their catalog.

I just hope they don't hop the shit out of it and actually make a "German Style" Bock.
Bocks should not have a foward hop profile and knowing SN, they will more than likely add to much because that is cool now and that is what they do.
    Wait and see I guess.
One thing for sure, I'm buying a single first.

I had Southern Gothic 2 years ago in the OBX on vacation, so I assume it’s all over North Carolina? It’s a great beer, wish I could get it in PA.

From what I remember of the last incarnation, there was a definite hop presence (as a Heller Bock should have compared to other Bocks), but it wasn't crazy and wasn't a modern hop character -- more traditional.

    But these days?

About a year ago, maybe more, I drank a lot of Southern Gothic in Central Virginia. I saw plenty of it in Lynchburg. I'd guess it has been gone for about a year. No sign of it anywhere and I haven't seen it in over 6 months.
