Odd Bird in Stockton, NJ has put their ESB on cask. I talked to the owner when they first opened and he said they went through them so quickly that he wants to get more and make it a regular thing.

Yup, that was me. We purchased a full pallet of pins, and then the shutdown came. They have been sitting in brewery looking very sad and empty since.. Once our outdoor space (and eventually indoors again) opens up, we will have cask ale on regularly. All of our casks are naturally refermented (no carbonated beers being put into firkins), and we do use a cask breather for serving.

Granted, haven't been there in a bit, and I'm not sure how they've been affected by COVID, but Max's in Fells Point always had two or three beer engines pouring cask ale.

I went to Brewer's Alley in Frederick, MD and had Trinity Stout on Cask and it was amazing.

(Expanding this thread to MA now that we're all part of the Northeast discussion forum!)

Bright Ideas Brewing in North Adams, MA offers a cask every Friday.

Both Bone Up Brewing and Brato Brewhouse in the Boston area have had casks flowing in the past few weeks.

If anyone's still following this thread, Jones Wood Foundry on the UES just started a weekly cask ale event, starting on Monday's.

Generally though, I've also noticed a decline in cask ale in recent years, especially since BierKraft in Park Slope closed down. When I moved to Brooklyn from London in 2008 it was relatively easy to find. There are a couple of spots in Brooklyn that may still have regular casks, that I don't think have been mentioned yet: The Brazen Head and Owl Farm.

I'm not sure what's going on with The Shakespeare, and whether they'll reopen. Their website is defunct, and they may be another casualty of the pandemic. I used to enjoy that place, anytime I was forced to venture into Midtown.

I'm now based in Montclair NJ, and we don't really have any cask options around here. But if anyone knows of one please share!

    Happy drinking, all.

An update on this, I just went to Bright Ideas' facebook page after seeing this, and as of today they've put cask Friday on hold for the summer.

So that was a kick in the nuts.

Backbeat is fairly representative of the beer engine (variety of cask offerings), and they have recently undertook 60 Shilling

I was just at Trouble's End Brewing (Collegeville, PA) again this weekend, and now with indoor dining getting back to fuller capacity, they are going to keep a beer on cask. I had an enjoyable pint of hand pulled Bitter. Also, they use nice .5L Willi Becher type glasses for all of their beers, you can't see it in my picture, but on the back side of the glass they have a line for "Head Space" about an inch below the rim, so you get the proper volume!

Speaking of cask beers, this seems to be as good a place as any to mention this, since the NERAX threads are locked and I didn't want to start a new one.
Those who know the NERAX fest probably know George, one of the founders and Chief Bell Ringer. Well, ||I saw a post on FB today that he recently passed away, from alzheimer's, which he's been fighting for several years.
Raise a glass and a toast to George tonight.

Anyone been to Daydreaming Brewing in Derry, NH? They focus on English styles and seem to have some of it on cask (although apparently not at the moment). Just opened last year and are affiliated with Cask and Vine.

Cask is rare in Suffolk County. New Long Island Farm Brewery in Manorville (just south off exit 69 of Long Island Expressway shows a cask on their website. I visited July 19 late afternoon and the cask had run out (bad news: no cask beer; good news: demand seems to be there).

We visited for the first time yesterday. Nice little spot with a focus on British ales. They had a 3.8% dark mild flowing on cask and an ESB on draft. The mild was tasting fantastic. Nice pour too.

The draft list also had a couple of NEIPAs and a couple of sours. Flights are available. Cans of the mild and ESB available to go along with bottles of their barrel aged stout and Belgian triple. They are also a distillery and offer flights of their spirits. And I believe they will be offering wine soon.

The staff told me they have four beer engines and plan to have more cask options available as the weather cools.

We didn't visit the associated restaurant, Cask and Vine, next door, but the menu looks good. The restaurant has a separate draft list with some nice options

I stopped in Gritty McDuff's Brew Pub in Portland ME's Old Port neighborhood yesterday. I hadn't been there in 20+ years and was happily reminded that Gritty's continues to serve cask ale every day. They had two offerings yesterday - their Best Bitter and a English Style Pale Ale called "Fall Session" Great to see the cask ales flowing along with a number of other British beer styles on tap - porter, stout, ESB
