I live in Asheville and haven’t seen Southern Gothic since the pandemic took swing in the late spring early summer. It’s not even available to-go from the brewery.

Rather than be so coy, why not tell us why you're so confident?

Not being coy. It's 2nd hand (but a reliable source) so don't have a link or anything to share. We'll see soon enough, I suppose.

Like a retailer or distributor? :joy:

But yeah, we'll see, I guess. But these days, mid-season is a weird release time. I'll be optimistic and think SN is trying to shake things up.

Going back to the pre-Pro US lager brewers tradition of a Bock released for Easter, maybe?

    Well, I'm going disappoint...

We are planning throwback beers through eCommerce. That is what this is... A huge Chico fan favorite dating back to the late 80's and 90's and the current label is designed to reflect an updated version to the original. We would release the beer in Chico only and occasionally it made it Sacramento/Bay Area... But the release parties were epic and we would have people from all over the country come to purchase. We had someone from the Bay Area actually drive and pick up a whole pallet of it and one gentleman who flew from the East Coast to pickup 5 cases to fly back...

Enough of that... We are brewing 100 bbls, hoping to can 75 bbls, Release 4/20/21. For-sale in our gift shops, Chico area and eCommerce. AK, CA, NC, ND, NE, NH, OH, VA, & VT

Once we get our new pilot canning line (April 2021) we hope to release a throwback beers each month... Fingers crossed for Summerfest and some more lagers.

Can't wait to hear the tap dance from your "source."

Man. I don't even see a state close enough for me to take out a post office box.

Works for me! Sorry for all the non-AK, CA, NC, ND, NE, NH, OH, VA, & VT residents. Why are laws so restrictive to beer shipments compared to wine?

My guess is it is due to the lobbying efforts of the Beer Distributor trade organizations.

At the national level: NBWA (National Beer Wholesalers Association).

For the state of Pennsylvania: MBDAPA (Malt Beverage Distributors Association of Pennsylvania)

I presume the other states have something to represent their business interests at the state legislatures.

    Cheers!

100 bbl. brewed, only 75 bbl. to be canned, some of which will be sold at SN's Chico and NC breweries. That is a TINY amount of beer - 775 cases (24 X 16 oz.= 3 gallons) minus whatever they'll hold back for brewery sales.

Folks can bitch about the few states where they'll ship but, really, what would have been the chance of anyone getting a four pack? (By contrast, when Westvleteren had their one-time shipment to the US back in 2012, it was 12,500 cases.)

Also, seems sort of crazy for folks on this website who routinely complain about the high price of craft beer to be willing to shell out for UPS shipping fees to buy beer, too.

That's not how the NJ ABC used to explain it (they've since changed the law for wine, out-of-state wineries now can get a state license and pay the excise tax, so this FAQ answer is no longer online):

Sorry that it's not coming to our area, and hoping your source didn't lead you to believe it was. That's all.
